RYAN BLACKMAN
Ryan first became exposed to underground dance in
the early/mid 1990’s. Numerous visits to
London’s underground nightspots provided
the blueprint for what he is striving to achieve
today. Clubs and organisations such as Lost,
Megadog, Universe and other such legendary
outfits provided the arena for some of the
greatest artists and performers on the earth
today. Jeff Mills, Derrick May, Plastikman and
Underground Resistance were amongst many
“urban hero’s” to shape
Ryan’s outlook and philosophy of music.

Having been witness to some of the greatest
DJ’s on Earth, Ryan has developed his own
unique and distinctive style. Taking in house,
techno and electro, in all their forms,
Ryan’s sound places an emphasis on complex
layering, and smooth musical transitions. Having
performed “warm-up” sets and
“peak-time” sets, Ryan has gained
valuable experience of dancefloors, in the UK and
beyond.

The last 5 years has seen Ryans profile increase
solidly- in 2001 he was awarded a residency at
premier techno club, FLUX- www.fluxrecordngs.com.
This saw Ryan take his sounds and ideas to the
big stage, and proved an invaluable stepping
stone in his DJ quest. Since then he has
headlined parties in the UK and abroad, as well
as providing support to some of the most
established artists in the techno scene.

As well as maintaining the FLUX residency, Ryan
promotes his own parties and events. The last
couple of years have seen “Heist”,
which focused on quality guests in small venues
go from strength to strength, and although
“on hold” is due to be unleashed on
London in the near future.

Away from the clubs, Ryan has also secured
himself two internet radio shows. The first is
Locked Grooves, which is co-hosted by Lee Bolton
on www.protonradio.com - a U.S based show, that
focus’s on Techno music in all it forms-
with guests such as Underground Resistance, Scan
X, and Oliver Ho, Locked Grooves popularity over
the past 12 months has been immense. The second
show, named “London Underground” is
on Japanese Radio Station www.samurai.fm and has
a varied musical policy, that also features
heavily the up and coming artists who deserve
international exposure. The experience of
regularly producing radio shows has benefited
Ryan’s DJ’ing immensely, as well
providing much entertainment and the opportunity
to broadcast awesome music, that otherwise would
perhaps go unheard.

Artists Ryan has performed alongside, include:

James Pennington a.k.a. Suburban Knight [UR], Red
Planet, DJ Bone [Detroit], Lawrence Burden
[Octave One/430 West], Stacey Pullen [Black Flag,
Detroit], Chaos[UR], Gary Martin a.k.a Gigi
