I'm currently using Waldorf D-Pole. I was pleased with it for quite some time but I know now that it just doesn't have the life in it that I am looking for. What are you current favorites?

D-Pole, I also like that you can adjust the sample rate and get a dope as 8bit sound.

Anteres Filter. Not really had a chance to check it out properly but its got some neat features. Couldn't get automation to work under SX1, whether this is a dodgy copy or inherent I dont know.Shame if it is...

the antares one was cool but it really f*cks with my computer. I just got some OhmBoyz quad filter that is pretty rad, but I'm still open to suggestions.

tc filtrator is ok, but im really liking 'tonic' - its included with sx2.2 and i think its about the best sounding native plugin filter so far..

i couldnt bare to use d-pole after using an analogue filter tho, u defo need to check the other options.. in fact i would seriously reccomend going to a shop and testing out a sherman or an mfc42 or somthing - pretty much essential gear in my book ;)

tonics got a lil steep filter built in too and u can seriouly **** with the modulation speed too which can get pretty mad

Yeah, believe me...a sherman filterbank is on the top of my extremely short list of equipment I plan to buy at some point.

have to disagree with you there mark. looks gay ... granted. tweak it right and its evil... sounds fantastic. got some awesome stuff running thru cubase sx 2.2 with the antares filter bank. really raw sounding.

the autofilter that comes with ableton life is a great filter that can be controlled really easily. is is possible to use this plug-in in Cubase coz i well like it???

DJZeMig_L
09-06-2004, 02:00 PM
Nope U'd have 2 sync via Rewire with cubase, and then play the sounds u want filtered thru ableton!

Mysteron as far as I know Is wicked, it's a perfect "wonky tech" VST i, i resembles the Theremin (slightly). Donne some stuff with it in the past :)

Alright, thanks for all your input. I checked out that Ohmboyz Quad Filter thing and it sounds pretty decent...still not great but fun to work with. I tried the antares and thought it was kinda flat. I also felt the TC plug-in was decent but it keeps crashing my computer really bad.

the autofilter that comes with ableton life is a great filter that can be controlled really easily.

I wasn't a big fan of it. I used it on a few older tracks and it sounds *alright *except for the weird stereo-expansion effect it does for no good reason at all. It's a good concept but it just doesn't sound all that great to me.

The Ohmforce/Ohmboyz Quad Frohmage is what I've been using lately, and it's intuitive and sounds great.

Sometimes I automate the PSP mastering eq EQ plugin to do some simple high pass filtering. Cheap and cheerfull

The Antaeres filter does look gay but I have used to as an effect loads of times now, you just have to overcome the dodgy interface. Actually I was quite surprised on some of the sounds I managed to get out of it, never come across a multiband filter before :!:

Bored of D pole now

The MS20 filter is ****ing sick!!!!!!!!

I cant seem to automate the ohmboyz one. Is it just me who has this proplem?

Filtrator is wickid once you manage to un-program it from doing all that modulating. Sounded a bit digital tho.

PSP nitro is similar, all the presets seemed to have LFO's all over the place, once I managed to figure out how to turn them off it turned out to be a little beast.

Reactor has some interesting filters, when you get it on the inserts. Problem is its very cpu hungry and I think it increases the latency on the channel its inserted on!

cubase's mysterizer and electrix filter factory

New to me, gonna check this out now. Thanks
