can you actually use this for music (just short cuts?) or does it have any form of midi control.??

No MIDI, we just use it for driving the computer. You can program lots of keypresses into one key so we've got a transpose up an octave button on it for example which would normally be "option-T, tab, 12, enter" ... it's wicked, was working on a tune last night with it definitely faster and I'm pretty quick on a computer anyways
