i need you on this one.
...
i have a korg electribe es-1 attached to my comp. could i get running it in cubase along with, let's say reason or rebirth, synchronised? so in this way i could use plugins on fly, which would be awsome!!!
or is it just my imagination working overtime?

U have 2 slave the software 2 the clock of the es1.. then u must find somewhere on the software a feature that will let ya adjust de delay between soft and harware.. it's fiddly and still prone 2 some timming frailty but can work... best way is 2 get it 2 sync and as soon as possible record the out of the es1, then use that as an audio track perfectly integrated with yer software!

I'm not sure how you would do what you need but if it requires a low latency soundcard then the sblive is no use.
I'm using a Terratec 24/96 DMX6fire. It's got very low latency, but if the sb audigy's latency is too long then you'd still probably need to adjust the software to take account of it with the terratec.
What sort of latency is the sb audigy. I thought it was possible to get it down to 2ms which should be OK. I'm running my terratec at just above that with no breakup.
