cd1 is more of a warm up set that chris would play wheras cd 2 represents his main set. Quality tunage!!

I quite like the first CD. Didn't bother to download the second. First one has tracks by agoria, Luciano, Matthew dear, Jacek Sienkiewicz etc. Pretty good mix, not sure if its a style Liebing would ever play, but good all the same.

Pretty good mix, not sure if its a style Liebing would ever play, but good all the same.

We had him over in June to do a 5Hour set and he played alot of the deeper tracks off CD1, it worked quite well I thought.

True, although it does seem like the cool thing to do for these guys. Liebing for instance doesn't really play this stuff.

i haven't heard that one. I have techno division 1 mixed by him.
CD 1 is good, but then CD 2 he destroys speakers lol.

You are totally right Sunil. If he's only playing this style as a zeitgeist then it could do more harm than good. If big name DJs start playing minimal techno as a passing " novelty" phase then that's cynical, fake and false. Still, if it brings the music to a few more people, and gets a few more people interested in the music then that's a good thing, right?

Well, minimal techno is not something I'd expect to blow up in the magazines too much. It's not as cool as Electroclash and a lot of its players like Villalobos, Luciano or whoever, don't seem to be as desperate for front page stardom as for instance your Marco Baileys or Mauro Picottos; in short, I wouldn't expect the coverage it gets to be damaging to the music in any way. I don't think there's anything wrong with Liebing doing a CD of it or including minimal techno on a CD, but I do think it sends out a slightly false reading of what he's at when you wouldn't actually see him play this stuff in a club too much, if at all. But hey that's his choice I guess, he must like the tracks so that's the main thing :)

Though the same can be said about Jeff Mills. His albums are generally pretty experimental-ish, however every single time without fail that i've seen him live he's just banged out the hard stuff all night. (Not that i'm complaining, mind you...).
