Portsmouth based, TechMent Records mission is to release a sound that’s both heavily techno influenced with a hard pinch of funk alongside more pumping & driving percussive elements, with regular detours either side, with the hope to introduce a bigger appeal for techno over a broader audience, whilst also running club events & radio broadcasts.

TechMent Records 1st 12” release, ‘Level One EP’ (TCMR001) comes forward with a soulful selection of chunky driving funky techno from 4 experienced UK producers. The EP, released 25/09/04 will be available at record shops across the UK (widely available down shops in Albert Road – Southsea, Portsmouth UK). The release features 4 funk fuelled tunes by artists including, ‘Geushky’ legend Ian Void (artist of tunes such as ‘Dirty Bitch’ played out hard by Carl Cox to name but one), who contributes a more intense building and ripping, harder cut sound to the release with ‘Swallowed Whole’. Seatman Separator, (experienced techno producer Simon Heartfield, along with Keith Wyatt & Jack Packer) a trio of artists and live techno performers who have played alongside some of the industries bigger names, inject a deeper funky driving touch to the release. Vortechtral (Kai Wiggins), TechMent Records label owner and experienced live electronic performer, sets down the smoother and more melodic chunky flavours with ‘Under Control’. Tod Livingstone, long time producer & DJ, top man of the Re-Formed artist agency provides an energetic pumping funky tune ‘Metric’ always good to get the floor going stronger.

Portsmouths music scene is a currently buzzing strongly amongst producers and Djs, and with an outstanding history of hugely successful events, artists and musical moments, we hope to help showcase more of the cities and musical genres talent on releases and at events with additional support and features from some of the more heavily established names in the industry. Please do get in touch regarding anything related, we warmly welcome demo cds, mixes, promotions etc…

the labels sound was intended to be of a less hard, and more accessable style of techno, with little more funky melody in it but still playable in a venue.

was wondering if people could give me some honest opinions on the release, 'Level One EP' from the website www.techment.co.uk - good or bad, id be very much apprieciative, the 1st release was to profile the range of the labels sound, so it is slightly varied in its sounds and production style.

if u can please email me at vortechtral@emrecords.co.uk or post a reply with whatever comments (awful to brilliant!), any feedback at all be very useful. Thanks
