View Full Version : Techno needs to stand together.

All this slagging, slating, hating comes from other scenes. We really don't need all this in our music.

Just a topic heading that needs some replies, that's all ;)

your right and to be honest there are a lot of anal people as we know and i think we see this a lot more because it tends to be these people who use boards to slag and criticise and thats why we notice it. I think techno at the minute is great. I am having fun at the nights i am going to and spending so much money on good quality techno at the minute its unreal. You talk to people at nights and most people i speak to and we all know the score with the uk scene as demonstrated in the above topic but the parties that are on are good people are enjoying it. Locked last months was one of the best nights i have had for ages.
Like i say i think its just some people like to use boards to slag and ctriticise and because we use boards we see a lot of it where as people who don't use boards don't. Just leave the peopl;e who moan and criticise to it cos their opinion means shit at the end of the day. Kepp buying tunes keep supporting nights and ignore these people. I LOVE TECHNO :rambo:

as the old saying goes, united we stand, devided we fall, well something like that anyway

Ego needs to be reduced and unification and understanding need to be more prevalent.

most definitely. but alas that is much easier said than done.

people have segregated into their classist circles and work only with their "kin". this is a terrible attitude.. new leaders are needed if what you speak is to grow.

i have no better example at this time than mark eg himself. a real hero to me. no better example. no better example.

Yes, well, my sentiments exactly.
But also, at the same time we don`t need to be blowing smoke up each others asses either. Friendly critisism will keep us all on our toes.
But yeah, more people need to pull together, rather than close off in the hope that they will become the next Jeff Mills.
There is a new "brotherhood" emerging at the mo, and it could be something that snowballs.

that's it mark and summer of sam

we have to be united, although we all have different styles. but the main thing, the mother of it all, is techno! everyone needs to accept the other styles, minimal, hardtechno, groovy, experimental, whatever. there is no better style, no "more intelligent", we have to stop thinking in this categories!

why does it matter to you so much what other people think of your music taste?aslong as you enjoy your own thing it shouldnt matter.

i put up a 'what do you think of sven vath' post up the other week to see what reaction it got and a few got stuck into me. i bloody love it tho.

just concentrate on what you like and remember 'ones mans cheese is another mans feast'!

But there is more.
There's also this attitude where someone wants to communicate,
and he or she gets no attention cause they don't know this person..

F*ck that! I piss on those people....

exactly. you like what you like i like what i like.not as simple as 'you like what u like...' cos it always ends up with someone claiming what they don;t like is pure shit, rather than them just not likely it. most of the time people on here claim they know the 'facts' when they are talking out their arse

I think techno crew are generally highly opinionated and guarded of their music.

Healthy debate is all good - lots of people sometimes get carried away.

At least we "have" an opinion...

am i the only person on this board who has never once been impressed by this guy.. anyways.

i have plenty of subjective opinions on why things are as they are.

but at most and since it is a topic on this specific board... which has it's ups and down concerning unity. i'd say that solely as a result of this board unity or togetherness and a more respectful approach to the music (or at least broader understanding has been built. this is a real network and mark puts his blood into it. and more people need to have that determination.

cheers. *hat tip*

lets not turn this into a "whose a fan of mills?" thread!....

back on topic.....

its true that there is alot of division in the scene, but as Dirty Bass said there is new brotherhood emerging, i personally find that there is alot of respect and friendships being formed at the moment with (mainly) up n coming artists who all have a real passion for what they are doing, no matter which level they are at! This is brilliant IMO and im lookin forward to the next year or so and seeing what else is developing

im sure others know what im talking about, especially some of the people off this board who are producing and linking up with one another, helping each other out.... thats what its all about

;)

i agree totally there's nothing wrong with not liking what someone does the problem with a lot of people is that they think what they like is superior to some-one elses taste. The problem with this is shortsitedness cause like it or not you need variety if only from a commercial point of view the underground also needs to be pressed on vinyl and without the more commercial stuff being made pressing costs would run through the roof. so if you don't like the music don't listen to it simple but respect other peoples taste none the less

i love techno more than I could love any music before. I see that the problem on the scene is, that priority became minority. I mean sharing knowledges and also aiming on the progress of all techno scene, not just of own tracks.this community is something what can help strenghten the scene, big up for Mark.thanks for letting me join the club...

gotta say that techno needs to re-invent itself a little and get back to what its about....

espesh - fuk all the commercialism shit going on....fukin djs etc charging silly amounts of dosh and not even comin correct........big name shmame.

yeh we gotta stand together too as mark said......and i say boycott these guests that are doing nuthin but rapin everyones pockets....all go to the underground partys that folk play for the LOVE...stand together on one of the fundamental things about techno...free techno

we gotta start sharing our music more via the net....not alot of sites will offer music for dl......most wanna make £££££. that way more will spread throughout more ears.

Bandwidth costs an awful lot of money - there is no such thing as free - someone always pays.

romelpotter
14-09-2004, 08:08 PM
it can't be compleatley free, techno like it or not is an industry and relies on money coming in and money going out to sustain it. what we can do is proportionalise the costs, ie superstar dj's charging the right ammounts for the club size and gate turn out. club owners not charging the earth for the hire of their venue, and promoters not charging a huge entrance fee for the clubbers.

Where? What's the t&c - never seen a host at that price without the all-consuming clause that they can switch you off if you consume too much of their resources - 'too much' being at their discretion.

Group Hug anyone?????...nah, seriously, we got a good scene here, i realise this when i go to free parties, everyone is there for the music and everyone appreciates what he have, also the hat that gets sent round for rig donations is getting better and better  and also the club we put on here in north wales is as good a techno club we have ever had in North Wales always a busy dance floor and the vibe is superb. thanks to all the REAL undergrounders who are making it all work
