We are pleased to introduce a relative new comer to the housemusic scene. Magic Number is Ross Hillard, who hails from Leicester. One sunny day, he took a demo of his song ‘That Day’ to Mantis Recordings. It was a fabulously soulful, Latin flavoured song, with a wonderful vocal performance from local session singer Rachel Foster and Rhodes piano by non other than Raymond Angry from The Blackbyrds. Mantis main man Martin ‘Atjazz’ Iveson was suitably impressed, and helped Ross to produce the track.
Keeping the winning lineup of Ross as writer, and Atjazz as producer, an album gradually began to take shape. The album, also titled 'That Day' was released in June 2004, to a hail of favourable reveiws from the music press. He was also recognised for his bass guitar talents and is the bass guitarist in The Matthew Herbert Big Band.
Expect soul laden, jazz infused deepness, but more importantly, come expecting the wicked little party that Melisma always turns out to be.

We will also be giving out CD3 in the melisma series. Part 1 of Atjazz's mix live at melisma in July!
