Yeah, that is a surprise. If it helps them further their own personal pursuits then cool. Kind of a shame when you hear this stuff, but times change and people move on etc...

Damn that was the first record shop i ever ordered a big stack of techno from. Buisness in the states is not good.

oh last time ive been there iva had a good laugh with dan .... really nice shop though their old location was really better (though really more expansive i guess)

anything u wanted to get from SG you will be able to get from bonehead himself.
must have been a hard choice for the 3 of em.

Very sad news. They were the only people in NYC who were big on the Detroit sound; great retail supporters. My first East Coast gigs in the mid 90s were because of Adam X. SG will be missed.

i don't know what what happened to the store in recent months. it seems like they lost some of their focus when they were still at the carmine street location. lots of electroclash and other stuff started appearing in the racks and i wonder if long-time customers weren't a bit turned off by that. the avenue b location had hardly any stock in it and everyone looked kinda glum whenever i went in there. was a bit sad.
end of an era.

no way - before discogs came along they were really useful in fidning out release info!
