Just curious as to know what everyone thinks of offensive cuts / samples in tracks? ie Gangsta \ horror movies \ porn samples..
I've posted this up on Harderfaster (Which is a Hard Dance site) and the response was very 50-50.
Personally, as long as they fit with the feel of the track, I love 'em, allways make me smile!
i'm working on a track at the moment in which I sampled a speech from a serial killer movie and it sounds really really dark. Its a techno track so I wanted a techno point of view....
I'll post it up when its done (which probably won't be too soon! :) )

horror movies, porn, gangster, rap....it all works well with techno to me, in fact there is quite a lot of this going on at the moment on various labels. i think it adds excitiment to the track.

well i actually dont care about that ... until it makes the track musically good
some booty tracks in a techno set always make people happy (viva dj funk, deeon etc !), but actually most of the lyrics are not sampled

think they are more often cheesy than anything else. Proper booty/ghetto vocals are superb when used well, but speeches and samples from horror films etc etc just remind me of the cheesier side of hard dance/techno and thats not for me

No I cant say im a big fan of those sort of vocals atall.
Id say I prefer more old school hip hop vocals on techno, I think that works well sometimes, and quirky electro type vocals etc. Tribal chants, vocals in reference to the name of the track 'I can feel the sound, creeping through my brain' ;) and so on.
But ive yet to hear a techno tune with a gangster vocal that doesnt remind me of hard house.
Not sure about horror film vocals I can off the top of my head think of any.

Ghetto/booty tech is so ace and the vocals always bring a smile to me face.

I really like horror/dark samples in tracks. Im really not fussed with porn samples in tracks.
A sample I really like is in Ad Nauseam - The House of 1000 corpses.

Robert Natus - Movies cutz EP (Not 100% sure thats what its called) is a wicked example of the type of horror samples I mean.
Im a bit of a gabba\speedocrew fan y'see, I love the really over the top samples (Intellectual Killer/ Cuntface etc etc etc), but no-one really does anything like that with straight up techno or acid. Even though with hard chunky techno you can almost hear the track screaming out for a hell raiser cut :)
u might wanna check Apocalypse Recordings for some nice movie samples in speedcore tracks..
or some older Animal Intelligence with lots of hip-hop verses..
wasnt ron d core known for porn samples?

techno definately doesnt need more cheesy vocals in it, thats for sure
as Fordy said tribal chants, old hip hop, old latin/ethnic vocal samples are very cool and can be used to superb effect
when i think of film samples in tracks it just reminds me of big cheesy breakdowns etc etc
definately not for me the more i think about it

In my opinon, yes this is true, ghetto vocals can sound foooownky with the right groove. Im not a fan of vocals anyway, although some dark echoy, reverbed delayed ones can sound daaaark as ****. Usually horroe films are cheesy as **** therefore th vocal is not going to be much cop.
As for the rest it can suck dick at times, many a time
cheesy? well could be.. depends who's doing it and in which style..
on the other hand, i find african / south american tribal vocals & drums so last year..
hip hop vocals? its been a while since i heard some in a techno track.. but hey, lately i'm listening to more hip hop than techno hehe

As long as it suprises you, brings you somewhere, makes you laugh...
Why hasn't anybody ever sampled that from Rocky (II I thin k...), when his manager tells him "all we need is speed"...
OK, OK, well obvious and cheesy but could be funny.... NO?

Well, I'll just have to do it myself then!!!
And in 120 years, when I've finally learn how to make a track and I've become dead successfull with my "we need is speed",
you'll all be very sorry you didn't listen to me...
