Arppe2600va
http://glenstegner.com/Arppe2600va.jpg
Based on ARP's legendary semi-modular analog monosynth! This amazing softsynth sounds very close to the original ARP 2600. Like the original, it's a monosynth (no polyphony). But also like the original, it has many Frequency Modulation options which enable it to create some truly weird sound effects. PWM, Sample & Hold, virtual Spring Reverb, Ring Modulation, and a dedicated Noise Generator are all there! Unfortunately, the Arppe2600va does not have virtual patch cords, so it is not patchable like the original synth (it only exists in the "pre-wired" state). But even a pre-wired 2600 will pretty much be able to produce nearly all of the classic ARP synth sounds from the 70s and beyond. All controls are mapped to MIDI CC#'s, and you can override the default settings by using the MIDI Learn feature. Use as a simple stand-alone synth (.exe file included), or copy the DLL into your favorite DAW or sequencer's plugin folder.

Spartacus
Spartacus is a stereo enhancer based on the Orban A222 Stereo Spatial Enhancer. Instead of enhancing the whole signal, it only enhances the attack transients. This way you hear a wider sound without unnaturally exaggerated reverberation.
It has two controls:
Amount: This controls the amount of spatial stereo enhancement (0% means no effect).
Length: This determines the length of the transients.
NOTE: Spartacus uses the plug-in host's default interface.

4Front Bass Module VSTi
http://www.yohng.com/bass.jpg
A small and versatile bass-line module.
The bass module is a morph between sample playback and a synthesizer. Original string excitation is sampled, and then sound is modeled.
Playing chords will add extra fat rumble, like when playing a real bass guitar.
Bass guitar range was artifically extended up and down, so that higher notes and parts can be played as well.
Same as a piano module, bass module is very CPU lightweight. It will never stick notes, and never break the sound or click during live performances.

ndc plugs Harmonical
http://www.niallmoody.com/ndcplugs/images/harmonical.png
A crazy instrument which uses spherical harmonics to modulate the vertices of a sphere. These vertices are then used to generate waveforms for a simplistic additive synthesis engine. Uses opengl to display the modulated spheres (one for every voice). Pretty high cpu usage due to the need to re-calculate 1024 vertices 100 times a second though :-( .
Note: Harmonical will not work correctly on Tracktion running under OS X. On OS X, Tracktion seems to handle windows differently from every other host tested, with the result being that the title bar for the editor will not appear, making it impossible to move or hide the plugin's GUI without deleting/removing the plugin from the project.
Just in case you don't pick on the subtle hint in the readme (well, I didn't think it was that subtle, but...), Setting the odd-numbered M controls to greater than 3 or 4 will result in an extremely loud output!

Gatemask
http://pquenin.free.fr/pqnaudio/gatemask/gatemask_sm.jpg
Gatemask chop a measure (of an audio clip, a track or a whole song) in 32 pieces (called slices).
You can adjust the volume of each slice individually. The best results are obtained when you completly mute some of the slices.
Gatemask can follow tempo or time signature changes.
Gatemask comes with 16 cool internal presets, and space for 16 user presets.
Gatemask has been tested in Tracktion for witch it has been originatly developped : one cool Tracktion feature is that you can apply a VST effect directly on any audio clip of a track (not only on insert or send slots).
/tracktion song demo on the homepage!!!
Gatemask works in Orion in SONG mode (don't use it in PATTERN mode) but the GUI udpdate don't work properly in some case when you select a new preset.
WARNING : your sequencer must be playing ! If it's stopped, Gatemask can produced weird noises depending on where it's stopped.

well, i have posted this plugin before... i know
but there has been some major major improvements (esp. for fruity loops users like me) that i have to post this update.
for some time i was a little unsure about this plugin and was asking myself if i was actually totally monofying stuff. this must have been somewhat true i found out:
Otium Fx Basslane
http://www.otiumfx.com/images/basslane_big.jpg
Version 1.2 - June 9 2005
1. Fixed: Recording of excess automation data.
2. Fixed: Output always mono is some hosts (such as FL Studio).
3. Interface buttons can no longer be turned on/off individually.
Basslane is a simple, yet very handy little utility to control the stereo field of lower frequencies in your audio material.
What is this useful for?
--Regain tightness in the bottom of your mix by preventing kick drums and bass lines flying around all over the stereo field.
--Drumtracks mixed from multiple sources, or processed with delay, reverb etc will often just sound confusing if the kickdrum isn't centered. Just drop Basslane on the track.
--Experiment with effects on various tracks without losing definition and focus in the bass region.

Karnage
http://www.museresearch.com/kvr/i/b/karnage.jpg
Karnage is the result of a collaboration between Krakli Software and Kriminal.
This synth is designed to make hard and nasty lead and bass sounds that will cut thru any mix, but can do a lot more besides. This synth is not for the faint hearted. You have been warned!
Features:
-Two oscillators with width (fatness setting) and wave-shape control, a sub oscillator/white noise oscillator mixable with a level control.
-24db/12db Filter modulated by a dedicated envelope, velocity, and up to 2 LFOs.
-A dedicated ring modulation section that can use keyboard tracking, velocity, envelope, and up to 2 LFOs for modulation of Ring Freq.
-Amp section where amplitude can be modulated by velocity and a dedicated envelope - with it's own built-in compressor. Plus Velocity control of Amp and Filter ADSR Decay.
-A performance section that has Poly-Mono switch, Glide, Glissando and retrigger switches with Time control on the glide. Glide can be routed to OSC1, OSC2 or Both.
-A dedicated distortion unit which uses pre and post filtering (it is this which can give Karnage its unique sound). The modulation (LFO1 or LFO2) is of the pre-post cutoff but the types of filters are set by the shape control so all sorts of effects are possible from a phasing type of modulation to a vocally formant shifting effect, (talk-box effect).
-Two LFOs, whose rate is controlled manually or by host tempo. Destinations are Filter, Ring Modulation and Distortion for both LFOs and you can apply each LFO to more than one destination at once. The LFOs also have MIDI Trigger On/Off (Gate).
-Full set of 128 presets by a variety of respected patch-makers.

Acid Trip
http://rockstarfx.com/images/acidtrip.jpg
Turn your bass guitar into a synthesizer.
Acid Trip is a filter and modulator designed for velocity-sensitive bass, particularly real bass guitars. Keep in mind that this was made in SynthEdit. If this turns you off, feel free to go back to using your sexy, name-brand effects in Pro Tools. This is not a smooth, sultry, vixen filter. This is a hot, nasty, slut filter. This is not a world-class butler who polishes up your softsynths because they don't sound quite analog enough. This is a drug dealer in the back alley who slips an ebony pill into your pocket.
More than a moogerfooger™ emulation.
Acid Trip started out as a simple emulation of the moogerfooger™ lowpass filter and ring modulator. When a polite letter from the president of Moog Music notified me of trademark infringement, I sent my software through a complete redesign that included a modulator with sixteen oscillators, such as vintage saw and parabola; an ADSR filter (and volume) envelope that reacts to audio instead of MIDI; an extremely versatile LFO; a built-in mixer; and a total of ten filters.
No matter how renowned the Moog filter is, I saw no reason to limit the user to one filter. So, I added nine more, including a VCF ladder filter from Marc Lindahl, the brains behind the Model E Filter that Sound On Sound hailed as "a rich, natural and above all musical sound, with a lovely controlled resonance."
SOS continues, "Model E's virtual 'ladder' filter design produces subtle distortions that, like much valve circuitry, add a warmth to the sounds passing through it; for this reason it's disappointing that other audio tracks can't be routed through it, even as a separate audio filter plug-in." Now, that plug-in is here.
Your own bass synth pedal for VST.
Of course, Acid Trip can do a lot more than sound like a Moog. With the subtle threat of a lawsuit, I decided to find inspiration from other sources as well. My trusty Akai Deep Impact bass synth pedal was a huge influence on me. For example, if you play more than one string at a time, the Akai gets a bit squelchy and crazy (a common "feature" of analog synth pedals). Acid Trip does the same thing. Such subtleties help move Acid Trip away from the frigid precision of the digital realm and closer to the attractive timbre of a hardware bass synth pedal.
Another unique achievement of this software is the modulator. Ring modulation is often thought of as a bell-like, metallic, atonal effect. However, Acid Trip abuses this effect for its needs to bring your instrument closer to the classic, squelchy bass synth sounds that made Deep Impact a world-class pedal. Plus, its uncanny response to velocity parallels that of a bass synth pedal, yielding a highly playable effect.
Unlike Deep Impact, which lets the user modify nine preset sounds, Acid Trip gives you the flexibility to open up the box and **** around inside. Of course, the Moog influence is still prevalent, and moogerfooger™-styled effects can be obtained. But if you twist the knobs a little more, you'll find the Acid Trip has its own unique sound.
IMPORTANT
The volume of your signal has to be just right to find the Acid Trip's sweet spot. Adjust the input control as desired (preferably when your signal is at its peak volume, i.e., as you strike a bass guitar string hard) until the green lights flash and you hear the thick, squelchy purr of the RockstarFX Acid Trip.
Let's **** shit up.

Torture Chamber
http://rockstarfx.com/images/torturechamber.jpg
This ain't your pawnshop TS-9. Torture Chamber is the meanest, ugliest, most extreme distortion effect ever to hit the VST world. Its sound is reminiscent of Jimi Hendrix's Octavia, or rather five Octavias lined up together. Coaxing conventional rock and metal distortion out of it is possible, but its strength lies in its electrical shock sound that no other distortion effect can duplicate.
Imagine your guitar as a human body, and Torture Chamber as a medieval mutilation device. Start out by choosing one of eight possible weapon types, then decide how much pain you want to inflict upon your instrument. SAW digs into the guts of the signal, SHOCK warps your guitar into submission, and INPUT controls the amount of drive. If the effect sounds fried, turn the input level down. Turning the screws on the four corners modifies the circuitboard to control the effect's severity.
Since TORTURE CHAMBER is modeled after real guitar overdrives and distortions, it works best before amp simulators, such as Synthabuser.

Klanglabs Glitch v1.0
http://klanglabs.siliconemusic.com/freebies/Glitch/Glitch.jpg
MIDI triggered random delay FX
Specs:
- MIDI = MIDI activity LED
- Fbk = Delay Feedback
- TIME = Set delay time
- T/R = Delay time range of random values
- LFO = ammount of LFO to Delay Time (to make wavy times)
- Fq = LFO Frequency
- MIX = Wet / Dry MIX
Usage:
- Ideal to use it over drums. As this FX uses MIDI to generate random glitch like delays you have to be able to deliver MIDI keyboard data alongside audio. Making a MIDI pattern over a drum loop would be a nice start.
Also useful on melodic instruments, notice that Glitch is monophonic, that means only accepts one MIDI note at a time so be sure to leave spaces between notes going to it.

PS: If anyone has found anything in this thread useful, i'd be happy about feedback or maybe short reviews or sth. some reaction :rambo:

Voxengo Boogex
http://www.voxengo.com/files/scrn/boogex11-large1024.jpg
Boogex is a free guitar amplifier plug-in with a variety of sound shaping features.
Features:
- Emphasis and Cut Filters. These are used to shape the sound of an amplifier.
- Pre-filter. Used to filter the incoming guitar signal. This is usually useful if the pickups on the guitar are too boomy or too crisp.
- Amplifier. This part is usually represented by a single Drive knob on actual guitar combos. The concept has been refined in Boogex and it is possible to get very different overdrive tones using four knobs. The Tone knob adjusts the character of distortion (or selects 'channel' like in some guitar combos - from clean to overdriven). With low tone value you will get a mild distortion, while with higher tone values distortion will be heavier. Dynamics adjusts the dynamic response of the amplifier - its effect is most evident with low Phase parameter values. The Phase parameter adjusts the overdrive performance - it is possible to fine-tune harmonical structure of the overdrive - for example if you hear too much discord tuning the Phase parameter may help. In some cases Phase also works as a mic displacement control - you can get different degrees of tone with it.
- Speaker cabinet impulse response selects which speaker cabinet model (and mic) to use. Loads WAV or AIFF audio files.
- Processing latency is very modest - 96 samples (2.1 ms at 44.1kHz).
- Several example factory presets are included.

haha, check this latest addition, homies, looks hella cool:
SubFix
http://nusofting.liqihsynth.com/images/subfix.jpg
NUSofting presets SubFix a bass enhancer VST plugin.
Currently available as free beta for Windows,
it will be released for Windows and as AU/VST for OS X as well.
The beta version expires on 29/08/2005,
it's not fully optimized and doesn't show the VU meters.
What it's for:
SubFix adds harmonic content to the bass range frequencies,
so it can be used as phycoacoustic bass enhancer on a mix
in the mastering process, to have bigger basses or to target
the mix to small multimedia speakers (replacing the inaudible low frequency
with relative harmonics).
But SubFix is designed also to enhance a single bass track, you can
use it as insert in a synth or sampler bass track to add the missing punch.
Please report bugs and suggestions.
Thanks,
Luigi
Controls:
Frequency: the crossover frequency in Hz, below this threshold the sound is processed
Sub gain: the level of the processed input
Treble gain: the level of the unprocessed input
Rich: the amount of harmonic generation
Solo Sub: bass only monitoring
Solo Rich: processed signal only monitoring
HPF Rich: extra boosting of the harmonic generation
Note: green to yellow led change is around zero dB

posihfopit
http://www.savioursofsoul.de/Christian/VST/Armyfopit.png
posihfopit is a dynamic EQ effect plug-in.
With posihfopit you can easily equalize your audio material, but furthermore the plug-in will add a new color to the sound. Due to its unique transistor based algorithm, a small amount of soft distortion is applied according to the filter band used. This way your material gets "kind of more creamy".
loopdon's tip: there's a master window you can enable on a channel and then you can see for example stuff done on this eq on say channel 2 and channel 3. very, very nice feature. a general eq overview. enable by rightclicking and selecting..
several nice skins as well.

- load up an instrument, and assign its input (which is shown by default) port to the same, 2 in this case
- press one of those funky hexagram symbols in Chordspace and it outputs a note
- choose some arpeggio settings, such as UP, in Chordspace's lower right corner
- choose a speed for the arpeggio, say 1/4
- choose a root note in the big circle in the middle

XYZControl VST
http://haydxn.net/content/tools/XYZControl/XYZControl.jpg
Control 3 CC parameters at once with your mouse; control both the position of the ball and its size by using the mouse wheel whilst dragging it around.
Put it before a synth in a host that allows such routings. To aid with midi-learn functions, you can RIGHT-CLICK the CC selector controls to send a single midi message on that axis. The 'sens' control adjusts how sensitive the mousewheel response is.
The panel is resizable so you can have it take up the whole screen if you like. The controls are fully automatable too, so you can record your movements.
I hope you find it useful!
how to use it in fl:
you can use it in FL, you need to go to the menu on the top-left and change it to "show MIDI output port" and then set the port to a number (like 10) in the top-right of the plugin.
Then you set this same number (like 10) on the top-right corner of the plugin you wish to control.

Naive LPF v 0.5
http://admiralquality.dynu.com/vstdev/images/NaiveLPF_GUI_640.jpg
Naive LPF v 0.5 is a resonant low-pass filter with envelope follower.
This filter has been developed to closely model the way some real world analog circuits work, as opposed to some other techniques which, while well adapted to the math processing power of a computer, just don't seem to render the same organic feel. Not to say that those techniques aren't just as valid, but I was going for a vintage, analog feel on this one. I'm primarily using this project as a test-bed for a full soft-synth, and in that realm we typically want "colorful" filters to make "warm" sounds. This was not intended to be a "clean" or "transparent" filter by any means! It is my first attempt at an audio filter, my first VST plugin, and my own first guess at how to approach a low-pass filter -- hence the name "Naive LPF". But really at this point it should be called the "Not-So-Naive LPF", because it's actually a quite sophisticated implementation and it's turning out to be useful. I'm finding it really does capture some of that vintage warmth I'm always looking for.
You will find this filter has a very warm, even distorted, analog flavor. But the distortion it does impart tends to sound very musical to the ear, particularly when processing individual instrument tracks (though it does some cool stuff when run on an entire mix too!)
Version 0.5 adds a gratuitous GUI, and about 6 MB to the download, but it sounds better for it! ;)

Throbber
Throbber consists of an LFO driving a voltage-controlled amplifier (VCA) or multi-mode filter (VCF). Throbber is inspired by the description of the famous Throbbing Gristle "Gristleizer" effect box designed by Chris Carter, but is not intended to be an accurate simulation thereof.
Features:
• Voltage-controlled amplifier (VCA) mode includes simulated overdrive distortion; distortion amount is user-controllable.
• Resonant voltage-controlled filter (VCF) modes include 12dB/octave lowpass, highpass, bandpass, and notch as well as a 24dB/octave lowpass mode, all with user-controllable resonance.
• Versatile flanger/echo mode.
• 11 LFO waveforms drive the VCA gain or VCF cutoff frequency. LFO speed is user-controllable across a broad range.
• Compact and straightforward custom GUI.

mdspCompressor is a simple compressor with auto-make-up gain as well as a preamp gain to overdrive it as much as you want.
A separate sidechain version is also available for Windows - with 3 inlets, the third one being the side-chain.
there's a side-chain version for vst win32 too here with 3 inlets, the third one being the side-chain. Not all host will accept to load it because of this. However any decent modular host should do the job, and I think it's also possible in more classical hosts using routing to effect capacities:

Dynamic FFT delay
http://www.twistedlemon.nl/site/images/stories/VSTpics/fftfundelay_site_pic.jpg
Description:
Do things with the FFT algorithm which it isn't designed for..... and have some fun. :D
I made this plugin with the 'FFTReal realtime wrapper' from Jaap Westerop. Working together at the HKU in a Music Technology Masters group demiurge.hku.nl
The 'Dynamic FFT delay is the first of the FFTfun range.
Download & Installation:
Download the zipfile in the download section of this site.
Unzip the dll file into your VSTplugin folder. And start up your VST host!
Usage:
The are 6 knobs represent:
The delay. This works like any other allpass delay.
1. Delay (maximum delay 4,64 seconds)
2. Feedback (mix the output back into the input)
Modulate the delaytime with freqency and amplitude settings
3. Modulation freq
4. Modulation amplitude
5. FFT bin delay
The modulation which you set with knob 3 and 4 can be delayed per bin for every FFT. Starting with bin 0. With a maximum delay of 128 bins.
6. Dry/wet
Mix beteween the original signal and the effect.
Technical details
The delay is 32 bits interpolated per FFT (of 256 samples) and becauseof this it sounds very smooth.

Swamp Synthesizer Free 2 voice Version
http://www.hgf-synthesizer.de/se/Swamp/Swamp.jpg
Significant and prevailing sounds: metallic leads, arpeggios and very strange pads
This synthesizer features 'Timbre-modulation' being achieved by processing each oscillator's waveform in a very unique way. The result is frequencies are moved to more mid and high ranges - enriching the sound even with harmonics and at certain settings adds a metallic character usually expected by a ringmodulator - but there is no ringmodulator used.
Each oscillator has actually two audio-outputs: one normal and one Timbre-modulated both being routed by mix-sliders to filter or direct out of VCA. So the most interesting part of a sound is already created in using the mix and modulation section of each oscillator. In addition to that the filter section adds what You expect from a synthesizer.

STS-21 - eXTended Space Transition Synthesizer
for Pads, Textures, Soundscapes & Athmospherics
*2 Voice Free Version*
http://www.hgf-synthesizer.de/se/STS/STS-21-sc.jpg
This completely reworked version of the STS is featuring the eXTended Wave-Transition method plus X-Torsion for absolute unique atmospheres, soundscapes, pads & textures. A very straight userinterface with 3 "Lazy"-Buttons for randomizing different sets of parameters so programming this synthesizer is incredibly easy. Although this is an amazingly "simple" structured synthesizer it gains its astounding sound from the Transition method for stunning new dimension and motion in evolving sounds changing completely it's characteristics.
The basic features are:
Four digital PCM-wave oscillators powered by 120 (Pro) / 78 (free) selectable waveforms
X-Torsion function for oscillators
two "Transit(ion)"-modes
two resonant filters (24db Lowpass and 12 db Highpass)
three ADSR-style envelope generators
two LFO (bpm-synced)
one LFO with shapeable and even patternlike waveforms (bpm-synced)
one Sample & Hold (bpm-synced)
one LFO (bpm-synced) for alternate Transition mode
combined LFO as mod-sources for filters
Stereo delay
Stereo Reverb
A two voice free version is supplied with 256 patches (1 internal and 1 external bank) - just a selection from the whole sets. If you check some patches(also in 2nd patchbank) made by talented Annabelle (ANN) you'll notice the STS is also capable for cutting leads and interesting gated stuff. Note the Pro version has differing internal and external banks as there are more waves inside.
Presets were done by:
Vera Kinter (VK), Annabelle (ANN), Dimitri Schkoda (DS or no sign), Aron Elvar (AE), Phil Garrison (PG) and HGF.

Devine Machine are pleased to announce that Minion, a free VST effect plug-in for both PC and Mac OS X, is now available.
When you just have to have four filters being modulated by a total of twelve LFOs, you need Minion!
It's got balls, you see. Four of them, pinging and swinging their way around an innovative XYZ pad that's used to control the plug-in and to give visual feedback. And for each ball, there's an effect module, and each of those can produce one of a variety of filter effects, including several filter/distortion combinations. Minion also comes with numerous presets that demonstrate the range of audio warping possible. And did we mention that it's free? (Yes, yes we did.)

Vanilla Compressor
The Vanilla Compressor is a general-purpose, stereo compressor plugin, with optional sidechain input. It can be used on individual instruments, across aux busses, or even as a mastering effect. Its fine-tuned, “smooth as buttah” sidechain and specialized release shapes make it equally at home with vocals, drums, guitars and full mixes. Use it sparingly for subtle, transparent “tightening”; or drive it hard and fast for deep, “balls-to-the-walls” pumping. Obviously, there isn’t anything revolutionary about the Vanilla Compressor. This compressor isn’t about bells and whistles; it’s about getting the right sound, quickly and easily. Go ahead–try a little Vanilla!
The Vanilla Compressor is currently in the alpha stage, and is free to download and evaluate.
(Please note: As of this moment, the Vanilla Compressor does not have its own custom GUI, and must be accessed via the VST host program’s default GUI. We appologize for this, and hope to have a GUI in the near future.)

GSnap
http://homepages.tesco.net/~graham.yeadon/gvst/GSnapBig.gif
GSnap is an auto-tune effect. It can be used subtly to correct the pitch of a vocal, or, with more extreme settings, to create a robot-voice effect.
For GSnap to work effectively, the input signal should be monophonic, at a good level and reasonably noise-free. For example, a clean, mono vocal recording, without excessive noise or reverb. Effect plug-ins should be placed after GSnap in the signal chain.
GSnap starts off by detecting the pitch of the incoming audio. The Min Freq and Max Freq parameters help the pitch-detector by narrowing the range of frequencies it needs to consider. Also, the Gate parameter should be set so that the pitch-detector ignores background noise during "silent" passages.
The Speed parameter sets the number of wave repetitions required for positive pitch-detection. Lower values for Speed will allow faster pitch-detection, but will increase the chance of false detection. The default value should be fine in most cases.
Once a pitch has been determined, GSnap applies the specified pitch-correction. There are two modes of pitch correction: fixed scale and MIDI. Fixed scale correction has a fixed set of snap-notes, while MIDI correction is controlled in real time by MIDI data.
The Threshold parameter sets the largest pitch-shift that will be applied to the input. It defines a region around each snap-note that will be corrected to that note. The GUI shows the snap-notes and regions in effect at any time.
The pitch-detection and correction can be made to use a different reference frequency using the Calibrate parameter. This sets the frequency of A above middle C.
Additionally, GSnap will respond to pitch-bend and modulation MIDI messages to apply pitch-bend and vibrato. The Pitch Bend, Vibrato and Vib Speed parameters control these effects.
Parameters
Min Freq: The minimum frequency that the pitch-detector will look for.
Max Freq: The maximum frequency that the pitch-detector will look for.
Gate: The minimum input peak level required to trigger the pitch-detector.
Speed: The number of wave cycles required for a positive match.
Correction Mode: Fixed scale or MIDI controlled.
Threshold: Defines the snapping region around each snap-note.
Amount: The amount of correction applied.
Attack: The time taken to reach full correction.
Release: The time taken to return to normal after correction has finished.
Pitch Bend: The maximum pitch-change caused by the pitch-bend wheel.
Vibrato: The maximum range of the vibrato triggered by the modulation wheel.
Vib Speed: The speed of the vibrato.
Calibrate: The frequency of A above middle C used for pitch detection and correction.
Notes On/Off: In fixed scale mode, the keyboard notes can be switched on or off, indicating whether they should or should not be considered as snap-notes.

Requirements
You need a PC running Windows and a VST host.
The GVST plug-ins also require "gdiplus.dll". If you use Windows XP then you should already have this file and don't need to do anything. If you use an older version of Windows then you may need to install it.
To install "gdiplus.dll", download the ZIP file below, extract the DLL and place it in the "system32" sub-folder of your Windows folder.

For all of you liking the BBE sonic maximizer. Here's a free and (far) better approach:
CLAS - Compressive Loudness Audio Shaping
http://www.refinedaudiometrics.com/images/CLAS.png
CLAS (Compressive Loudness Audio Shaping) is a tool that provides both progressive phase compensation for bass frequencies, and psychoacoustic bass and/or treble enhancement. We use CLAS most often when listening to track edits on the master channel, purely for our pleasure.
The effect is similar to BBE treatment, but without being "in your face!". Psychoacoustic compression is similar to many classic compression curves, producing the most boost at low sound levels, and progressively tapering off to no-boost at extreme loud levels. This is more pleasing to listen to than typical linear compression, and accounts for the appeal of many classic analog compressors. The effect, in CLAS, is much like dynamic Loudness Contouring.
CLAS works best on Stereo channels, but it is also capable of running on Mono tracks. The left and right channel compressors are tied together in order to retain stereo field balance.
The progressive bass group delay acts almost independently of the bass and treble enhancement. Bass and treble enhancement are separately applied. The enhancement levels are nonlinear functions of the actual dB boost provided internally, so we map them to the faders for you so that you get the boost you ask for.

SideKick v3
http://www.twistedlemon.nl/site/images/stories/VSTpics/sidekickv3site.jpg
Description
The SideKick is a sidechain emulator for the VST platform.
This is the 1st release candidate of version 3. If you find a bug please report this to me by email
development@twistedlemon.nl
What's new?
The SideKickV3 is stereo and has it's own routing system to select sidechain(s). Now you just have to load 2 Sidekick's in 2 seperate channels and link them together. The goal was to make quick an easy solution for stereo sidechaining in VST hosts.
What does it do?
As said before this plugin acts as a sidechain emulator. 'Sidechaining' is useing one audio stream to influence the amplitude of another audio stream. For instance a basskick track/channel that pushes the amplitude down of another channel/track every time the basskick sounds. Named 'ducking'.
Usage
Routing
Sending audio input to virtual channel
The selection to which channel the audio is send, is done automaticly. Each time a instance of the plugin is created it will send it's stereo audio-input to a different virtual channel. When there are no virtual channels left a red X is displayed. You can see to which virtual channel the audio is send under the SidekKickV3 logo in the plugin GUI.
The virtual channels stereo and are accessible by all other instances of the SideKickV3 plugin. (There are max. 4 channels available namely; Alpa, Beta, Gamma & Delta).
Receiveing audio (sidechaining your audio)
To receive audio from the virtual channels Alpha, Beta, Gamma and/or Delta, do the following:
Open a SideKickV3 on the (stereo)channel you want to sidechain and select the virtual channels (Alpha, Beta, Gamma and/or Delta) under 'use virtual channel' to use the audio on those virtual channels as sidechain input.
Note: This plugin needs to be loaded twice into 2 seperate channels in your VST host to be able to work. Because the plugins can 'see' eachother and use each others audio input.
Bypass
Is turned on by default... don't forget to turn it off, if you want to sidechain your audio ;-)
Ducking/Keying (invert the effect)
Ducking only lets audio though when theres NO audio on the sidechain. When keying does the opposite.
Attack
The attack of the keying or ducking effect. (0 to 2000 miliseconds)
Release
The release of the keying or ducking effect. (0 to 1000 miliseconds)
Note: when both attack and release are set really low its possible to heart a crackle. This is normal and I left it in because I think it is musically effective. (it sounds cool...)
Threshold
The threshold selects the minimum level (in dB) where the effect can detect audio on the sidechain for the effect.
Effect strenght
Gives a visual representation of the current strenght of the effect.
Known Bugs / Restrictions / Limitations
The 1st restriction is not to have 2 projects opened at the same time which both use the SideKickV3.
The SideKickV3 is not tested for useage with 2 or more openend projects that both simultaniously use the SideKickV3 at the same time. This could cause the plugin not to function. Especially if both projects want to use the same virtual channels.
Also, the SideKickV3 can not function across 2 different hosts. In theory it should work if both hosts are useing the same buffersize. But the SideKickV3 is not designed for this purpose and is therefore not recommended.
In Ableton live (maybe in other host's too): When you have a project open that uses the SideKickV3 and then directly open another saved project that also used the SideKickV3, can cause the effect not to function.
- A remedy is to 'first close' the 1st project and then open the 2nd project
I'm looking into these limitations to fix them in the future.

WOW & FLUTTER
http://www.interruptor.ch/vst/wownflutter.jpg
A VST plug-in which emulates the playback speed imperfections of the pre-digital era.
Features:
- playback speed is modulated in realtime by up to six oscillators
- intuitive controls: Non-linearly scaled controls allow to directly set the perceived pitch deviation depth and rate resulting from the playback speed modulation.
- dual mode: In dual mode the left and the right channel are modulated separately.
- flange mode: When the modulated signal is mixed with the original signal a flanging effect occurs. This feature recalls the times when recording engineers created a flange effect by applying pressure on the tape reel with their hand. Additional controls for feedback and delay allow to create more intense flange effects. Although the unit can be pushed to self-oscillation in extreme settings it will never cause digital clipping thanks to a compressor algorithm inserted into the feedback path.
- A built-in test tone generator makes it easy to quickly check a particular setting with different signals or to use the plug-in as a self-contained "noise maker".
- If a control has no influence on the sound in a certain mode it will disappear from the surface.
- All parameters are controllable by midi controllers.
- Pop-up hints help to understand the function of each control on the user interface. These appear when the mouse rests over a control.
- Also the assignment of midi controllers is documented in the pop-up hints.

- alternatively the delaytime can also be set manually or synchronized with the host application.
- latency compensation: you can compensate your soundcard's latency for perfectly timed echoes in live applications.
- tape model including tape saturation, tape hiss, wow & flutter, low and high pass filtering, smooth parameter for continuous delay time changes like on a real tape delay
- stereo-control: ping pong delay, time symmetry, stereo width
- all parameters are controllable by midi controllers.
- pop-up hints help to understand the function of each control on the user interface. These appear when the mouse rests over a control.

Scanned Synth VST
Scanned Synth VST is the first VST plug-in to implement "Scanned Synthesis" - until now, this new synthesis technology has only been available to users of Csound and Max.
Scanned Synthesis represents a powerful and efficient technique for animating wavetables and controlling them in real-time. Developed by Bill Verplank, Rob Shaw, and Max Mathews between 1998 and 1999 at Interval Research, Inc. it is based on the psychoacoustics of how we hear and appreciate timbres and on our motor control (haptic) abilities to manipulate timbres during live performance.
Scanned Synthesis involves a slow dynamic system whose frequencies of vibration are below about 15 Hz. The ear cannot hear the low frequencies of the dynamic system. So, to make audible frequencies, the "shape" of the dynamic system, along a closed path, is scanned periodically. The "shape" is converted to a sound wave whose pitch is determined by the speed of the scanning function. Pitch control is completely separate from the dynamic system control. Thus timbre and pitch are independent. This system can be looked upon as a dynamic wave table. The model can be compared to a slowly vibrating string, or a two dimensional surface obeying the wave equation.
Scanned Synth VST is currently in development and does not yet have a GUI (it uses the host's default GUI).
"I would be really interested to hear about how you use the plugin and any ideas that you have about what the user interface should be like. There is currently a very large number of parameters and I would like to reduce that number considerably by removing those that are redundant and combining some groups of them into single parameters.
Please send any feedback to me (John Proctor) at feedback@humanoidsounds.co.uk "

Ez all, im new to the forum.
Dont know if its been posted already cos couldnt be arsed to go through 20 odd pages.
http://illformed.org/glitch/images/overview.jpg
What Is It?
Glitch is a highly-adjustable, semi-automated, realtime audio manipulation system which allows you to alter your music in a variety of different ways ranging from quite subtle to extremely bizarre. At its heart is a sequencer which sychronises to the host tempo and slices the incoming audio into user-defined patterns, applying a random selection of DSP effects to each slice.
Now its not actually free, but the demo is highly usable with audio bouncing. It goes quiet for a few seconds every few minutes.
The full version isn't much (30 euros). Well worth the money for this must have mangling effect. Respect

sonogram sg-1
sonogram
http://ag-works.net/plugins/sg1/sg_0.jpg
SG-1 gathers some features which are usually isolated in other sonogram tools.
It works in real-time. It continues analyzing in the background, and only stops when you freeze it. Both in frozen or running mode, every time you click or drag within the sonogram area, frequency and amplitude rulers highlight the values corresponding to that point.
A little LED-like screen shows you in detail analysis information and parameter modifications, or the transport position when idle.
The unusual thing: it comes with six scientific color palettes (twelve considering they can be inverted, by clicking the palette twice), which can be switched on the fly with a single click. Each of them can highlight different dynamic ranges, from high power kickdrum beats, to little spikes coming out from the noise floor.
Every palette can be shifted by simply dragging the dB ruler, to better contrast the right amplitude ranges.
You can vary the number of snapshots-per-second on the fly, to increase or decrease the time resolution. At any time you can change the zoom ratio, without loosing in resolution over the signals which have already passed by.
Of course you can scroll the zoomed screen while analyzing, to easily locate the frequency range of interest.
A mark button is provided: it allows highlighting interesting parts of the waveform for subsequent individuation.

GMulti
http://www.gvst.co.uk/GMultiBig.gif
All GVST plug-ins require 'gdiplus.dll' .
http://www.gvst.co.uk/gdiplus.zip
GMulti is a three-band compressor and stereo enhancer.
First, the signal is split at user-defined frequencies into three bands. Each of these bands can then be compressed independently and have its stereo width altered before being mixed back together.
The compression of each band is specified in the usual manner with threshold, ratio, attack and release controls.
The GUI contains gain-reduction meters for each band, which have a resolution of 1dB per bar. There is also a before/after waveform display, which can display any of the three bands. The waveform display features a zoom control, which allows the display to be scaled for optimum viewing.
The stereo enhancement works by amplifying or diminishing the stereo information in each band. If you set a Width parameter to 0% then the associated band is collapsed to mono, which is often desirable for the bass band.
The Mix parameter allows the pre-compression signal to be mixed back into the output signal. You can use this to restore some of the dynamics of the original signal.
Parameters
Gain: The gain applied to the incoming signal.
Low Cut: Attenuate the signal below this frequency.
Freq 1: The cross-over frequency between the first and second bands.
Freq 2: The cross-over frequency between the second and third bands.
Thresh: The compression threshold.
Ratio: The amount of compression to impart above the threshold.
Attack: The speed that compression takes effect.
Release: The speed that compression relaxes when the level drops.
Width: The amount by which the stereo image is accentuated.
Level: Volume adjustment.
M: Mute switch.
Mix: Mix the pre- and post-compression signals.

Daft Funk v1.0
http://klanglabs.siliconemusic.com/freebies/daft_funk/daft_funk.jpg
Glitch accelerator.
Specs:
- X-Y panel: X controls speed, Y controls LowPass Filter and volumen optionally.
- Mode: "Pitched" means the wave will be resampled as speed is beeing modulated. "Grainy" means the wave will not change pitch but the grains will change size as speed is beeing modulated.
- Sync mode: "BPM" or "Free"
- Note subdivision selector.
- Y->Vol (Y value to Volume) button.
- Zero - X: Useful only in "Grainy" mode, this parameter is useful to avoid clicks, but if you want to go very fast you better untick this option, otherwise you'll hear an artifact in where the pitch transitions aren't smooth on very high frequencies.
- X and Y spring buttons: Enable disable spring release on them.
- Smooth knob: This smooths out the X and Y values, high values result on slow response to quick movements, useful to make slow sweeps such as on one Daft Punk famous song.
- Grain size knob: When in "Free" mode (opposed to BPM) you can specify the grain size here.

Lost Technology separates incoming audio signals into amplitude, frequency and waveform (harmonic content) signals, modulates those part signals and then merges them into audio signals again.
The plug-in takes two inputs and produces two outputs. The Analyzer component splits the input signal, the Modulator components combine part signals in various ways and the Synthesizer component merges three part signals into audio output.

CHIMERA
http://www.majken.se/vst/grphx/chimera-big.jpg
CHIMERA:
Chimera is an experimental synth that uses subtractive synthesis in a new way. White noise is sent through a series of narrow bandpass filters which are controlled by pitch. The filtered noise is used as resonant sinewaves to create pads, atmospheres, organs and percussive sounds. In other words, everything you hear from Chimera is white noise being filtered into music - in realtime.
Chimera has a rich modulation section consisting of three modulation envelopes and three lfo's with cross modulation. But there are also amplitude envelopes for each of the three Elements and built in effects featuring delay and distortion.
Chimera is a living, breathing organism. Think of it like an acoustic instrument, like a saxophone. Two notes will never sound the same on a saxophone and there's only a certain range of sounds that a saxophone can make. The same is true for Chimera.

LiveCut
http://mdsp.smartelectronix.com/images/livecut.png
Livecut is based on BBCut the BreakBeat Cutting library written by Nick Collins for SuperCollider
The BBCut Library began out of work on an algorithm to simulate the automatic cutting of breakbeats in the style of early jungle or drum and bass Nick Collins.
Livecut is only a small subset of what is possible with BBCut, but as it is available as a VST plugin, it is much easier to start experimenting with it.
It is a live beat-slicer but instead of manipulating equal chunks of audio like most beatslicer do, it works on the notion of audio cuts whose length and number of repetition depends on the context and the cutting procedure. cuts are organized in blocks which then form a phrase. And each phrase can be ended by a roll or fill.

Still, there are things to be done. But you may get it right now, test thoroughly how well it works in your environment and fulfills your needs. Experience what it's capable of.
Maybe you will find more feedback machine will be your favourite delay plugin.
Besides, download and testing is free with no limitation in functionality. For support and updates you will need to register, though ;)

Pressure
http://www.gersic.com//images/pressure-image.png
Have you ever wanted a mastering compresssor that was dead-easy to use? A compressor that just made things louder without having to worry about the best Ratio, Attack, and Release settings for a specific task? A compressor that didn't over-compress attack transients, robbing your track of all the excitement of explosive hits? A compressor that was downright freaky looking?
Well, Pressure is the compressor for you. Using a technique called upward compression, Pressure increases the level of quiet portions in a mix without reducing the level of attack transients like a traditional compressor. There are just 3 parameters: Amount of compression, look-ahead, and gain control. It couldn't be easier.
Pressure is free, so enjoy!
//Dunno if this is so 'mastering' but nevermind -it's free

I am pretty sure i posted the following plugin before but as there is a new similar plugin from the same dev i thought - why not to make the package complete:
Bass Chorus
http://www.cloneensemble.com/bc_scr.jpg
- It's not just a chorus - it's a true thru-zero flanger
- It's not just for bass - it's flexible and full-featured
- A huge, wide bass sound without sacrificing punch and focus
Have you ever used a stereo chorus on a bass sound and ended up with a muddy bottom end swimming all over the place?
Bass Chorus can avoid that problem by separating the bass and treble frequencies, where you set the cutoff frequency. The effect is only applied to the treble portion, which is then mixed back with the bass for output.

Bass Phaser
http://www.cloneensemble.com/bp_scr.jpg
- It's just like Bass Chorus, only it's a phaser
- It's not just for bass - it's flexible and full-featured
- A huge, wide bass sound without sacrificing punch and focus
Have you ever used a phaser on a bass track and ended up with a floppy bottom end wobbling all over the place?
Bass Phaser can avoid that problem by separating the bass and treble frequencies, where you set the cutoff frequency. The effect is only applied to the treble portion, which is then mixed back with the bass for output.

Paradigm Shifter
http://www.psychicmodulation.com/freeware/fx/parashift3_med.gif
Paradigm Shifter is a beat shifting delay mangler with lots of modulation options. Here's a list of features in order of signal routing:
-Shifter Section: Can produce strange results from subtle phaser type effects to extreme FSU style madness. Comes with on-board sequencer for modulating the shifter speed.
-Filter Section: Making use of David Haupts brilliant Multi-filter module complete with gain compensation, and multiple stages (up to 8 stages, carefull when using high resonance in the high stages, can produce extreme loudness). Following the filter is a subtle distortion for beefing up the sound. The filter has it's own sequencer for modulating the cutoff frequency.
-Delay Section: Stereo delay section with dual sequencer for modulating the delay rate and feedback. The delay has left and right panners for spreading out the delay.
-Each effect section can be turned on/off
-Each effect section has it's own hidden panel for extra options
-Each sequencer can be paused, switch direction and change speed
-Shifter and filter sequencers have glide controls for gliding the modulation between steps

really insane plugin for the freaks :paranoid:
DtBlkFx VST plug-in 1.0
http://www.rekkerd.org/img/articles/dtblkfx1_0.png
DtBlkFx by Darrell Barrell is a Fast-Fourier-Transform (FFT) based Virtual Sound Technology (VST) plug-in for use in a variety of audio software running under Microsoft Windows 2000 or newer.
Use it for…
Precision parametric equalizing with sharp-roll off
* Set the frequencies so accurately that you can adjust individual harmonics of a sound
* Frequency resolutions of up to 0.7 Hz
Harmonic based (or comb) filtering
* Set a fundamental frequency and adjust the level of it and its harmonics - you can even remove the pitched component of a voice
* Active harmonic tracking - let DtBlkFx automatically track a sound and adjust the level of it's harmonics
Various types of noise control
* Change the "contrast" between loud and soft frequency components
* Adjust only those frequencies below or above a particular threshold
* Clip frequencies above a particular threshold
* Sound smearing (phase randomizing)
Frequency shifting
* Harmonic shifting by a fixed number of notes
* Non-harmonic shifting by a fixed frequency
* Active harmonic repitch - the content of your sound is monitored and repitched to a destination note (which is quite fun to try on voice)
Vocoding
* Standard (frequency enveloping) - make your trumpet rap, string section sing or synthesizer talk
* Harmonic based - harmonics in one channel are power-matched to those in the other (or some predefined waveforms) for a new vocoding sound
Frequency masking
* A harmonic or threshold mask may be set for any effect (apart from vocoding) - for example only shift frequencies that are below the threshold
Realtime spectrogram (waterfall) display of input and output sounds
* See what frequency components are in your sound and exactly what you've done
* Use your mouse to see the note & frequency under the pointer
You can select up to 4 of the above effects to be run in series! Combining the effects in this way allows you to make completely new and surprising sounds.

"As you can see in the topic, it is a loop-player, which can slice a loop into parts, and you can re-order the slices. I also added some basic FX, LFO and an envelope generator. With the envelope generator you can set attack and decay time for all slices.
The FX unit is a type of modular, you can choose the order in which the FX are attached."

And another cool plugin from the same board:
Grainskan- Granular synth
http://magalov.myweb.hinet.net/grainskan/Grainskan.png
What we have here is a sort of granular sampler synth thingie..
Grains:
At the moment there is only 2 grains 180 degrees out of phase which scan across a sample of you're choice. there's only a few grain shapes to choose from at the mo, but, I'll be adding some more at some point. With the grains you have two parameters, 'size' and 'scan speed' which loosly affect the frequency and timbre respectively..
Scanner:
With the scanner you load a wav of your choice (only stereo ATM) and set the loop points, the rate controls the loop time. You can also set the loop shape, and whether it loops forward/backward/one shot etc.. There's load more shapes that could be done..
The rest is pretty standard..
Still to add LFO goodness, more shapes, maybe more grains and grain modulation perhaps.. And any other ideas..
