View Full Version : evolving pads & ambient textures
like the ones you hear twisting & floating around in the back of brum style tracks. how do you get such textural detail into the? layering? twisting lots of nobs & hoping for the best? any hints would be appreciated, cos i'm proper stuck on the matter...

man, i wish i had atmosphere :!:
i'd advise you to pm messanger, coz he's feckin ace at stuff like that

he once told me he uses stuff he records from scifi internet radio or something.
other than that i have posted at least two plugins aimed at that purpose in my Free VST Thread (one is called Texture, the other SUN RA).
yould have a look at reaktor and crystal vsti as well, i suppose.
this plug is rather different as well:

layering, modulation efx are the key.
And if you want to get nice and adventurous, try layering pad sounds with field recordings or looped ambiences and messing with those
cheers for the tips.
that sophia vst sounds mental (bit tricky to keep under control tho). like the idea of timestretching vocals too. will have to start bouncing some of my tracks down now to free up some cpu & try this all out properly.
thanks again....
play records backwards slowly and sample with delays...
hehe!

take a long string sample, use a shitload of effects and a vocoder, then apply various volume envelopes. gets some tasty results.
