Ok, well, to try to broaden peoples horizons a little, and to show that techno can be more than just Boom-Tish Boom-Tish (Although there is nothing wrong with the Boom-Tish).

I thought we could have a Suggested Listening Area, where people could recommend a new album or single release, or a particularly special Live PA or Mix, that is forward thinking, and then we could discuss, kinda like a book club.

Yeah, this is a great album. For anyone listening to it for the first time you really need a bit of patience as on the face of it it can sound sort of 'samey'. Listen to it for a while or all the way through and it is a very rewarding listen :clap:

While Burroughs cut up style's influence in the world of literature is undeniable, I think its a bit of a murky association to draw it to music. John Cage and Pierre Schaeffer were messing with taking found sounds long before Naked Lunch was even a thought. Burroughs was just a famous resonating point for an idea that had been bouncing around human consciousness for sometime.

They have inspired me for years.

Anouar is known for being an Oud player. the music for this album was written on the piano however, and ended up being primarily a piano album, with the Oud as backing instrument. beautiful stuff.

excellent stuff that sunil. My housemate was playing it in the kitchen. i went downstairs and thought birds were singing. went back upstairs, came down again and i thought there was a ghost in the kitchen.

on the thought of being scared. I can watch any film on my own in the dark etc and not be scared. But about a year and a half ago i listened to a piece of music by coil, i think it was on unnatural history. i couldnt listen to it on my own in the dark. i tried so many times but as soon as this woman started to scream i simply couldnt handle it. It starts with a womans distant verbed voice. the voice slowly becomes more prominent then she starts screaming. But these are no ordinary haloween screams. It sounds like she is being attacked or something, real scary stuff. I will try and find the track name for ya.

What was the last piece of music that provocked such an emotion for you lot?

Mine would be listening to John Convertino- mass in latin. Extremeley sad music. Made me weep.

the b-side "Femme Fatal" kicks ass electrostylee, epic percussion and pure analogue funk across the lead + 808 claps for that extra bit of smile.

2) Si Begg - Peel Sessions (NOODRAD001)
another stupid music release that begs for a big sound system. ragga, bass, film interludes, dapper off-beats. genius.

3) Arabian Prince - Innovator (LONE0005)
DBS remix in the house... vocoder madness on an arabian nights trip - dark backdrop with rolling kicks and stompy rides.

4) Kardon - Jeans On (WLR003)
Remix of the infamous neil diamond 70's hit + subbass. nuff said?

5) Claudius Kantner - Guitar Groove (EV001)
"Guitar Groove" and "Hutschi Mini" have just the nicest clinky-clonky-bong jolly rhythm and to "The Crew" is rolling and dark - with more clonkity clonky.

6) Cannibal Cooking Club - Recooked Vol.1 (CCC05)
remix madness from TSR, Der Totmacher & Jens Bremeier, Queaver & Versis and Bill Youngman. you know, the usual wonked-to-fuk nonsense.

7) Various Artists - Musick Vol. 5 (SHITKATA59)
Volume 5 from the more straight clubby end of Shitkatapult without forgetting to mess-up and roll the funk. Go bassline! on 'Autolump - God's Speed'.

To bring it all together prolific electronica artist Meat Beat Manifesto has been tapped to co-produce Drums of Death along with DJ Spooky.

It's produced and engineered by none other than Mr. Jack Dangers... and he plays instruments on every track.
