A name arising to describe the percussive sound arising from the Swedish techno scene, generally Swechno is accepted to be something which the prolific Adam Beyer gave rise to with labels such as his Drumcode defining the style.

oh no. after the "schranz"-phase a new thing which is also just techno.
who needs this kind of style description? me not. but o.k.
we have just do add some more styles like:
-Italechno (the ones like Carola, Parisio, Vigorito)
-USechno (the ones like Adam Jay, DJ Shiva, Jon Connor)
-CANechno (the ones like Misstress Barbara, DJ Preach, Kilo)
-GERchno (the ones like Chris Liebing, Crazy X-Ray) :eh: :eh:
-MALtechno (for Sir Rounds Style) ;) ;)
and not to forget
-CROAtechno (the ones like Ogi, Dundov, Mary) :!: :!:
and from now on i don´t like to hear just TECHNO again.
We have to discribe it in country names + "echno"
:nono: :nono: :nono: :nono: :nono: :nono: :nono: :nono: :nono:

UKechno doesnt quite have the same ring to it, let alone BIRMechno
Sounding more like some kinda mirical cures for liking 2 step garage than the fine things they are.... ;)

We could compromise with BRITchno, swing yer pants.
Surely SWEchno should be SVEchno - I don't think most foreigners habitually refer to their motherlands using the English names.

:help: thats just silly to many pigeonholes and to many names for the same thing , trying to convince us this is something we have never heard before its been happening for years in dance music, makes me chuckle

I'll raise my hand and say "Yeah that was me that added that wiki". The term has been kicking about for yoinks though, I first heard the term back in 2001.
I'm still debating whether I should add "filthy wonk" into wiki. Alright it's not a term anyone else has ever used in all seriousness but it's great fun to to say things like "See when I get home, I'm going to have a filthy wonk". "I'm off to the bog for a filthy wonk". You get the idea.

why do there have to be so many style names
especially for the drumcode style I would say "Techno" would be the best fitting description! It's the same with "schranz" here in germany

I like having all the different terms, it forms a way of nicely grouping things together which is beneficial in a lot of ways. If you look at some of the less popular phrases like Swechno, Schranz and Wonky it can be a good help on focussing in on certain styles which can in many ways open up debate and progression within the circle. Some folk really hate it though but to be honest, if you went to a night expecint got hear 155bpm up for it balls to teh walls schranz type stuff, then got lumped with some 135 bpm wonky stuff folk might not really appreciate it and feel a bit cheated. It would be like buying tickets to a rock concert expecting to hear the Rolling Stones and getting to see Steps instead. It is something which can be important to the identity of a club for example if they aren't depending on getting in big guests who do have a reputation.
If you reverse the position as wel to an extreme we should disband techno and just call it all electronic music, so the next time you go out to an electronic music night you might hear British Murder Boys, Mauro Picotto or Aphex Twin. So you can see why it's important to have some definitions, just folk like me like taking it to extremes. Maybe we're just obsesive compulsive though!
