I've spent all day geeking in front of reaktor. And I've made a kick drum synth.
It's pretty cool, just tried it in a track. Lets you change all kinds of subtle things. Doesn't let you make too much of a mess, but you could change the range of the controls if you want something weirder I guess.
You get a high frequency and low frequency knob to set the basics of the drum and lots of control over the amplitude envelope. It's basically a sine wave and another oscilator if you want to toughen it up a bit. The curve factor does what Stomper does with the pitch ... but then there's a linear pitch change you can use as well - handy if the sound you get has too much tone.
had a revelation last night that eq'ing a pitch changing sine wave was the same as changing the amp envelope which is why eq'ing a kick is a real challenge sometimes.
Wibble.
If anyone wants to give it a shot then it's in ftp://80.176.210.21/pub/ in the reaktor designs folder. you might want to download the kick drum that's there as well, one of the things you can do is use a high pass filtered sample to get the right character at the start of your drum as it's tricky to synthesis something nice here (although you can choose white noise as an option in the synth for that attack portion if you like it).
Bright ideas gratefully accepted...
