I have downloaded/installed cubase after the advice of Jon the Baptist..

What VST Instrument do I need to be able to load wav files in and play them on the midi channels so I can enter riffs and stuff a lot like the NN19 sampler in reason

Also any tips for Jon Doe style production would be appreciated.

Get hold of the Halion Vsti. Its a soft sampler.
