PAUL MAC
(Stimulus, C-Side, Intec, Primate, Phont, Primevil, Pure Plastic, Native, Fracture, Theory, Fragmented)
From London, Paul Mac started dj’ing around 18 years ago and followed the seemingly familiar UK path of electro - hip-hop - acid-house - techno. It was the pull of techno that proved too strong for Paul and which allowed him to best utilise his carefully honed mixing skills from all the years of hip-hop dj’ing. It also drew him into the studio where for over the last 10 years he’s been extremely busy.
Recording almost 100 records for over 30 labels, Paul’s collaborated with the likes of Ben Sims, James Ruskin,Mark Broom and Vince Watson, as well as using the pseudonym Jorge Zamacona, on the most respected European labels. His tracks have been remixed by International artists such as Oliver Ho, Oscar Mulero, Marco Bailey, Deetron, Ben Long, Hardcell and Joel Mull.
Paul’s own production style is diverse; hard, slamming, techno to funky, tribal, melodic beats, layered with Latin style vocals. His current sound is hard, funky and percussive and the best way to describe it? Like a pumpin’ carnival freight train straight out of Rio!
Paul Mac’s status as one of the world’s most talented techno DJ/Producers has resulted in invitations to perform extensively worldwide where his DJ sets continue to impress and attract acclaim. April’s Soundhaus event will be Paul’s second Scottish gig, playing only once in Aberdeen 6 years ago.
ALEX ROMANO
(Rootz Recordings, Rhythm Records, Work Records, Stealth Records, United Records, Bamboo Records)
Alex Romano is from Haarlem, The Netherlands and is one of the freshest new producers of house music that has emerged over the last 5 years. At the age of fourteen he discovered a passion for disco and started DJ’ing in the late eighties when he discovered house music.
Alex took the first steps towards his own production in the late nineties when he released several tracks on various labels under the name Johnny King. Boasting such early success, his greatest to date would be the creation of Rootz Records when in 2003, Olav Basoski and DJ Silverius joined forces with Alex to form the label. Over the last few years Alex Romano’s production has been fast and furious, but never compromising in sheer quality. He’s a favourite with House DJ’s who await his releases with anticipation.
Alex’s releases are sexy and soulful, funky house, deep house and tech-house, often vocal and with tribal or Latin elements. Having performed extensively throughout Europe, Session is very proud to welcome this up and coming talent to Glasgow for an exclusive UK debut!
