Does anyone know of any software (free or on the cheap side) that can be used to create different effects with vocals, ie lowering the pitch but keeping the speed the same etc? Or disguising some crap singing? I'm hoping to get a similar effect to the female sung vocals in DJ Wag - Music Non Stop, but without having to sample someone else's work. I don't know anyone with that kind of voice so might end up having a stab at it myself...

Thanks Sam, I'll look into it... ;)
You can get some nice fx in cubase and sound forge to get crap vocals in tune is quite hard but the best thing to use would probably be antares auto-tune.

I'm not worried about the singing in tune part, I just wanted some software that creates different vocal effects, like making them higher or lower but keeping them at the same speed. I found a program called AV Voice Changer, not sure how good it is though.

man you do not want to get vocaloid
it is a voice synth made to sound like an rnb singer
Do a search for vocoder + vst on that kvr site

Yeah I saw Vocaloid and checked out the demo. Sounds nothing like a real human voice. The Lola voice sounds like a saxophone!

Yeah, I really must get the hang of ReWire. Managed to get ReBirth but haven't worked out how to connect it all together. The ReBirth sounds like it could be good for creating acid lines, although I'm looking at other possibilities now.
Nice to see a local person on here anyway mate!!

i use nuendo 2 ( cubase on steroids ) get the steinberg voice machine ****in well cool
i've got steinberg voice machine that is nice, orange vocoder quite good for your robot effected vocal.
New versions of sound forge quite good got right through to number 6 not got 7 yet don't know why but still like using 4.5.
That a good program to use for pitch and keeping vocals at the same speed.
