Electric City
28-03-2005, 01:20 PM
Thursday March 31st at Traffic.

Barry Redsettaz [Pogo]
Richard Brophy [Test]

Admission: e7 / e5 members.

This week sees Ireland's own Kris Needs, Richard Brophy team up with Mr.
Barry Redsetta for an evening of lyrical house and techno promising to take
in the sounds and flavours of Croydon and Cologne via short stops in Crumlin
and Ringsend. This dynamic duo will tag on the decks 'hour-on, hour-off'
style in some gonzo-inspired shenanigans. The winner will get to study at
the École d'Moo Moo school of Journalism in Terenure.

First up is Richard Brophy - long time supporter of the deeper sounds of
techno and house through writing and DJing over many years, from his seminal
e-Zine 'Etronik' through to DJ magazine. Richard presented a weekly show on
Nova FM but has recently transferred over to Power Fm.org where his show
goes out every Tuesday at Five. Richard has also set up the Test night
which is at the vanguard of the relaunch of Bodkins on Bolton St and it has
featured guest spots from some of Dublin's best DJs alongside resident Mr.
Brophy.

Barry Redsetta makes his first appearance at Electric City this week. Barry
started off as part of the Redsettaz duo but has now gone the George Michael
route for solo superstardom through weekly slots at Pogo on Saturday's. His
sets have rocked the dancefloor up there since doors opened and have James
Garnered rave reviews too - no mean balancing act in these snidey times.
Sure to feature tracks from the vaults as well as the most virginal of white
labels this will be a quality night's line-up to be sure.

Richard Brophy Chart in no particular order:

Jacek Sienkiewicz : Perpetual Motion (Recognition)
"Hypnotic stuff from one of Europe's most promising techno producers - but
how do you pronounce his surname?"

SweetNCandy: Polyester (Possum)
"New German label with a clubby amalgamation of electro house and dub techno
that ze Germans do better than anyone else."

Loversrock featuring Mohsame & Harth (Anorak Tontrager)
"Deep, dark bass tracks with a cut up Losoul remix on Coccon resident Dorian
Paic's label."

Besier & Lorber: 'Mizu' (Nummer)
"Lorber and Nummer keep it visceral and grimy with these stop-start panel
beaters."

Sten: 'Stalker' (Sender)
"Hitchcock-eque string drama threatens to overshadow Sender's trademark
crunch funk."

Swayzak: 'Snowblind' (Mathew Jonson remix) (K7)
"With this remix and 'Marionette', Jonson finally lives up to the message
board hype. Synth-pop techno bliss out."

Alden Tyrell: 'Disco Lunar Module' (Superdunkel Remixes (Clone)
"These mixes beef up Tyrell's Italo anthem into an FX heavy, pulsing
nightmare."

SP 12: 'Resurrection' (David Duriez Remix) (Adrenogroov)
"Le Duriez plays on Phuture's legacy to dispense with the Detroit niceities
and create an acid bomb."

Sacchi & Sandiego: 'Love Riot' (20/20)
"Chicago meets Berlin in a puke stained backstreet in The Hague and the
result is 'Love Riot".

Shyza Minelli: 'Take It Back' (Tuning Spork)
