I wouldn't really think about doing it unless you absoloutely have to, you will lose sound quality in changing it, you can just get a mp4 plugin in surely for your listening program of choice and use that.

ah right i see, oh well the problem was that my sisters ipod has converted all the music on the computer to itunes which are in mpeg4 format so it wont allow me to burn mine onto a cd as mp3s :eh:

Simplest way is to burn an audio CD from itunes, then rip the tracks off the audio CD into any format you want using your CD burning software.

I think that if you go to the prefferences menu, and change the importing codec u'll have the problem solved.
IS the extention of the file MP4, M4U, or MPEG4 ????

MPEG 4 is an audio / video compression standard.
mp3 is MPEG Audio Layer 3 - i.e. an audio compression standard.
What format does stuff come off iTunes in then?
