DJ TRENCH www.djtrench.com
STEVE SHIELS & BRENDAN LONG
11pm - 4am £10adv/members

DJ BONE kicks off his Voodoo residency in style with a pre release party
for :
Subject Detroit Vol. 3 - the highly anticipated follow up to DJ Bone's
2001 very successful Subject Detroit Vol.2 mix CD. This project has been
in the works for over 3 years from the concept to the track-listing all
the way up to the actual mix. For over 15 years mixing has been Bone's
true art and this mix displays every facet of the skills that make him
one of the best Electronic music DJs in the world. With this project
Bone delivers an original, one of a kind and timeless experience. The
concept came about when Dj Bone noticed how the vast majority of mix CDs
are simply a bunch of high profile, hit songs compiled and mixed. There
would be an abundance of focus on the songs and the big name DJ
commissioned to do the mix as opposed to the actual mix itself. This and
the realization that most were mixed and edited on a computer was enough fuel
to motivate Bone to act. He wanted to push things further
than the ordinary mix and really make this project unique.
To do this Bone contacted some of his favorite producers and asked them
to create new productions for him to use on the mix. The result is an
entire mix of all new, unreleased songs from Aaron Carl, A Guy Called
Gerald, Ben Sims, Mark Broom, Juan Atkins, Detroit Grand Pubahs, Scan7,
Scan X, Futago Technologies, DJ Bone himself and many more.
Subject Detroit Vol.3 is a live, 3 turntable mix of all unreleased songs
done in true DJ Bone fashion, straight up Detroit style.
No edits.no computers..no CDs.just raw energy, soul, skill and
imagination.

Supporting Bone will be Detroit designer and DJ, DJ Trench.
'As an old school house head, Trench had the pleasure of experiencing
Detroits dance subculture from its infancy. As a designer he has provided
artwork for many labels and artists : Mike Hukaby, Terrence Parker, Juan
Atkins, Brian Gillespie, DEQ, NDR, Beretta Music, Throw Records,
Visillusion, Detroit Grand Pubahs, Lumina, Pure Plastic and most notably
DJ Bone who appointed him visual liaison with his label Subject Detroit.
As a DJ his skills are tight and saying flexible in selection is an
understatement! He attributes his adventurous nature to his
roots..''Back in the day there was no right or wrong, there was just
music. You grabbed what you could and gleaned the parts that touched
you. I believe in embracing experimentation, we can
make our soundscape much more exciting''.

fecking belter of a night, not as busy as I have seen downstairs but still (once again) a really good crowd.

Trench was brilliant, quality tunage and a really sound guy. Bone was once again quality, excellent tracks and brilliant skills. The guy obviously really enjoys playing over in Liverpool (as seen with the old 313 Bone liverpool top!!)

Anyway, brilliant way to spend my birthday, cheers alot voodoo.

Top night! Could have been a little busier but May is always a quiet month. Both Trench and Bone were on top form, Bone better than Mills anyone?

bone certainly has the skills to piss all over mills from a great height.

certainly not going to take anything from mills though.. you just can't.
differnt league altogether without being so far apart (if that makes sense)

Well thats the third time I have seen Bone and each time he has been class. Seen Mills quite a few times and only a handful of them has he been on top form.

Track selection from bone was quite similar from the last set but suppose it was only 3/4 months ago!!!

What a fun night!

We had such a good time, quality music and crowd yet again.

Dj trench was excellent and Mr Bone, well what can you say, the absolute master. You couldn't ask for a better resident! The combination of such a great club, crowd and class resident djs, always a winner! Long may it continue

Can't wait to go back

Cheers for that... I suppose that's the order you'd expect, though I didn't realise Brendan was upstairs... The 3 downstairs all played some good stuff though, especially DJ Bone.
