Mascon's stuff is wicked...
check out the anticonsume stuff, that's great
also I''m looking for gigs for him in UK if anyone is interested, his live act is really cool, and he's a nice guy on top of it all also, one of our proper berlin crew..

But if you're looking for something good in more left field techno (not so keen on the term wonky myself), watch out for DJ Beni, he's really going to come thru this year I think..

also the new Mosquito from Youngman that's about to drop, personally think that's much better than the miditonal stuff, but horses for courses....

while we are at it... there is a new one out by the Aphorism on Feinwerk.

Their first couple of releases on Framework + Mutter are gems.

They're looking for someone else to sign it I think, but listening to what they're doing I don't think it will be to hard, it's real quality stuff....

it's really inspiring to be here right now, so many talented musicians about doing really interesting things, all we really need now is a club in berlin we could all play in, but the problem as ever, anywhere: Location Location Location

This was the night we all played in dresden, 6 live acts or something, no djs, with Subhead playing live along with myself and quever and versis from miditonal... never got a recording of my set (as per usual)
He also just returned from playing at an electronic music festival in Kiev, Ukraine, there's a link to the pics from No-Future I think....

And nice once grumpy, I have a new record on Djax up (My sixth to date) coming next month entitled "Berlin arrival", watch out for it...

and as re: berlin venues, since tresor closed there is no-where here for our kind of music really, same shit different city...

Yeah, it seems to be quite cool at the moment how so many likeminded souls have gravitated toward berllin, it's been quite exciting, and it's really good to have the support of like minded people around...
and I'm sure they would all love to play in the UK if the oppertunity was there...
And yeah, I've been thinking of getting rid of the porche for a while, if I gget any more speeding tickets I'm going to lose my licence

cheers mark....downloading just now..nice one.

about yer recordings- buy yourselve one of them HD minidiscs......you can use them on HD mode and get about 7 hrs of decent quality recordings....just use a 3.5mmjack to 2xphone lead and you will be able to record everywher you go, your set and others.......ther well good and totally portable. We use that to record our whole night, start to finish...they can also be used to record at a very high sample rate- 1.summin M, but for shorter time.

Mirsha- different type of sound than what were talking about here but still wonky as hell and throws yer mind off in all directions....its a short snippet from our guest next month...PSICLONE2 (hardware live set). It fukin rocks.

about yer recordings- buy yourselve one of them HD minidiscs.

what really bugs me is someone always comes up when I'm getting ready to play and asks "Is it ok if we record it?" to which I say "Sure, so long as I can have a copy" and they always run off before I have the chance to get their e-mail, then find myself around someones house in the arse end of no-where in east germany, and they have all of these live acts and mixes from me, half of which I didn't realise were recorded... am slowly tracking them down though, just want to put them on my website for all to enjoy more than anything..
hopefully I get the rodersdorf one soon, even Landstrumm said it was rocking, was really chuffed at the end...

thats quite lame on the other folks behalf, i always get our guests recoding to them.....its just courtesy.

least with a minidisk you can get it straight out your mixin desk and not have the haslles of this. you get to listen to it on the way home to in the headphones....always nice that too.

good stuuf your wanting to pout them out, one thing i hate is folks not doing this......had a few great sets that i cant share(folks dont want them out) with the punters whoe been ther on the night, folks luv to get a recording of a night theyve really enjoyed, brings back the memorys for them.

glad you want to do this for folks, afterall music was meant to be listened to not hid in a cupboard incase someone rips a few loops off or summin.

well, it's there to be heard and it's always promotion for you..

and you're right, when you do it yourself you can make sure the levels are right and don't get a horrible recording, that's one thing I hate also, when someone records your live set, and it's all distorted, like the dogma live act I did, when I soundchecked it was crystal clear on the soundsystem, ended up sounding a little too distorted on the final mix that went on the net, it was ok, but that's one time I don't want it to go online, when it sounds shitty, as it reflects badly on your production.. it's hard to get it right unles you're keeping a very close eye on the levels, and you've got aa limiter on there, I mean I take my DBX compressor everywhere I go these days which helps a bit, but recording digitally, you have to give it a fair bit of headroom... it's also really cool to be able to use the gate also, so you can do some gating on the fly, especially with jerky jacking stuff....

those sound samples do not do the record justice, the production is well phat, and this is the thing, when people are judging stuff off low bit rate MP3, it's good to get a taste, but you really have to hear the real deal to do it justice...

Another thing about juno...

If a record has more than 2 tracks, you can download an m3u file which loads all of the tracks into your media player or whatever, and you can skip through them...

... but...

... if a record has only two tracks, you have to download them individually.

Which isn't that much of a pain, but seems stupid.

I hate streaming samples over the net when browsing for tunes. I'd much rather download the samples to a folder then listen back to them in one go.

crime
22-06-2005, 04:11 PM
point is though I don't think it's fair to judge a record on low bit rate mp3s, and those mp3s of the vogel record certainly don't do it justice...

Low bitrate samples are certainly a pain but at least they give you a feel for the hook of the track as long the sample is properly cut to show it off.
