best technical techno dj around i rekon, cant get enuff of the few of his dj sets I got recently, not heard anyone else scratch at the rate he does, make it sound so good and pull so many tricks while never even lettin it drift!!, proves that you dont have to mix hop hip to be at the top of the deck skill game

but i do agree he is a wikid producer

He's hit or miss it seems.

He's absolutely awesome when he tries, but its all about getting him to try, or to bust out one of his rehearsed performances (where he tends to do most of his deck wizardry/scratching).

As a producer he's also hit or miss, I don't really like the noisy clanky chicago sound, but Bang the Box on Colums of Knowledge was a good tune.

Saw him at pure filth in Notts a couple of months back, I had no idea what he was like before then and he absolutely tore the place apart - incredible. :notworthy:

You should still be able to download the set from the site as well: http://www.pure-filth.org/music.html

No idea how long it's going to be before he comes back over the pond though unfortunately...

seen him in belfast. scratchin was second to none, but.. imo, cheesier than f**kin Dairylea trade show..

imo

as for his productions.. every one the same. chicago bangers are good here & there, but thats all he does.

well each to his own perpetual...if you don't like then don't do.....easy enough.....I've never really got the dj rush / dj bam bam stuff, just seems like extremely simple hard 909 patterns....and not a lot else repeated endlessly....or am I missing something?

You sound very bitter you know...

all I asked you is what did it acheive "Having words with the Jackstar wankers"
and that I thought you'd given up (i.e. given up techno and posting on this board)
How that can be construed as an attack I do not know...

And I'm not really bothered what you want to say about bam, you're right, fair enough if it's not to your taste, but to say you "had words with the jackstar wankers" sounds a bit silly really, what were you telling them, not to put out bams records?
sorry, but to me you just sound very bitter.....

Bam Bam at Filth was tremendous.

Fair play, have an opinion - but I agree with Mark, by all means say you don't like stuff, tell us why you don't like it even, but openly labelling all at Jackstar as wankers is a bit off.

Paul played here not so long ago, and he seemed like a lovely bloke to me. Top notch DJ too.

well, one of the Jackstar crew sent me a few pms saying he would 'put me on the list when he was in belfast' at the club where i was running my own nights.. he obviously had no idea who i was when he tryed to put me down. on the thread at the time, one of the Jack crew claimed bam to be 'the worlds greatest producer' a claim that is so laughable its not even funny. and its nowt to do with bam. saying that about anyone is foolish to the extreme. by all means, state your preference & back your brothers but dont TELL people who is the best. thats just plain daft imo

imo, the Jackstar guy DID get on like a wanker. i aint saying EVERYONE at JS is a wanker, but what he threw at me left me with few other opinions to have on such insinuations & claims..

anyways man, if i'm such an idiot, why bother relpying.. i put a few smileys in to make the point that it was all in good humour.. but not enuff.

as for giving up. i said i was no longer djing techno or takin part in the scene here in belfast. i never mentioned anything else. i didnt say i was going to stop posting on forums or having an opinion. i simply stated i was backin away from techno. you obviously read much into little ;)

and again, what has that got to do with it ? i was posting an opinion. same as before. and yet again, one of the loop from the bam circles has made issue with it..

as for the 'being bitter' remark.. how can you can surmise that from a few posts on a forum is beyond me.. espesh with the smileys dotted here & there. but i guess your of a higher intelleigence that can read the 31 years of a persons life via one thread... wanker

i will say this though... if we have any more to say to each other, lets keep it pm & not bore the other kidz with this childish tit 4 tat balls ;)

like i said, peace n s**t ;)

Bitter, as I say, bitter....
and I really can't be bothered to continue this via PM pete, I've been as helpfull as I can over the past year or so on here to you, and you just sound bitter, that your night didn't work out, that your music didn't go anywhere etc.. I wasn't on a big defending jackstar tip, I just thought it was a bit of a ridiculous comment, it's not really good form to bring up personal griefs on forums (I admit I've made the same mistake myself before)..

and just because youy put a smilie on something makes it ok to say what you want "Because it's all just joking around"
Bitter and twisted mate  (But don't take it personally because I put a smilie at the end)

Bam Bam pretty much rocks no doubt, he can be hit and miss yes but who isnt? when it comes to Djing, even if u hate the music they are playing, no one can diss anyone for at least having balls to get up there and try stuff out, u can off course heckle and throw bottles tho when it all goes wrong... haha seriously his productions are top of the class in that banging/jacking scene...

i must say ive found all the Jackstar crew lovely people, especially Paul, wikid bloke indeed, and Mark is sound too, as he said its a personal beef tho it sounds like so not getting involved just saying i think they are wikid guys really...

but the old problem that rules the world was a factor....
his agency also made us feel that our night wasnt up to his standards....
fair enough i suppose if your in the priviliged position of pickin and choosin where you play....such a shame though.....we were desperate to see him play.....maybe Brendan may listen to me one day and he'll play Voodoo....we can only hope....

Jasbof sort of stands for peoples name....John,Andy,Si,Barry,Oakey & Frankie....we sort of just wrote the first letter off everyones name one day playin pool and it happened to be in that order.....and we were so made up with the new word that it just stuck.....and we thought it would be a good name for a night....
that was 4 years ago haha....
and blushing melons comes from an old 1960's advert sort of sign me mate has......he suggested it for a name for his new night and i said he should well go for it....
so yeah.....we are a bit nuts

For some reason Pete is just angry at the world because his DJ career never took off like he had hoped and has to vent his anger at someone. All I can say is that a bad attitude will never get you anywhere apart from sad & lonely.

ok... get over yourself. are you a dj or psychologist ? how you can make these wacky assumptions by reading a few threads on a forum is beyond me. like i jus said in the pm i sent you.

i been angry at the world long before i started dj'ing, and if trying to rile me by making comments about my time as a promoter & a dj, please knock yourself out. i had a great time in my years behind the 1210s, and had many great shows & gigs. now i'm moving on. and if you think i'm gonna sit here & try & justify anything to you, least of all my opinions, your sadly mistaken.

think what ya want JS. i couldnt care less. but i'll be f**ked if i'm gonna censor my opinion cos one person takes offence at a thread on a forum.

and also be aware that incidents like this are part of why i left the club scene & dj circuit. nowt to do with music...

sunil, ahm.... no i dont think so man. JS was well nasty to me over that Bam thread. as was crime at the time. even though all i ever said was that i didnt dig bams sound. i posted that i seem him as an expert in his field & that it jus wasnt my bag. but had a right blast at me regardless...

they didnt apologisse then & now they are makin stabs at my time djing & running nights. and you want me to apologise to him for a lil poke that got blown waaay outta proportion ? i think not..

they have also failed to answer the question about the PROTOCOL thing & crimes claims of 'helping me out' cos they know rightly he is wrong & has made a mistake.

if they wanna continue attackin gme with petty insults & accusations, they can go ahead. i'm off for the next two weeks & i have all the time in the world to sit & waste with this behaviour..

or i could better spend my time gettin to the bottom of my bitterness
