you can actually buy a microscope and you'll be able to see when it's right to change your needles. also, when they start gather too much dust on them they're definitely on the way out.
i've been through 8 needles in 3 months recently. but then again, a club atmosphere can just wear the shit out of them if you're not careful. and i'm definitely not careful ;)

Ive just bought some new ones because i left some blood in my old one and it clotted and blocked it up.

ive had stantons for 3 years on my decks and not changed em,

they are actually sounding shit now, but when youve got nothing to compare against its hard to tell really,
gonna get some ortofon electros me thinks.

i havent changed my concord needles in over 1 year, but then im skint. :lol:
Go on then,enlighten me. How much are a decent set of needles? I've had my decks for abotu 5 years and they still have the origional stantons that came with them!! It's probab;y abouttime i changed them :lol:

Got to be better to buy needles every once in a while than be dragging chipped metal accross your lovely vinyl every night.
