Problem..

On one deck, every now an then the left side cuts out, i thought this would be a needle problem but im not sure, ive tryed cleaning it out a bit but nothing.
Any help appriciated..

dodgy phono cable ?
loose connection with the wire in the arm to the cartridge?
broken wire inside the arm ?

could be any of em mate - dodgy connection to the mixer - try swapping the cables around - left n right - and see if the problem swaps sides

Try Acid's solution...

I think it will most lickely be the connection of the cartridge/ Shell to the arm... sometimes the pins get really oxidized... also maybe of of 'em is stick hence the on/off contact.... clean it out (olso the pins in the Headshell/ Cartridge)... make sure the head is crewed on tighly (CAREFULL do not overdo it)...
