I love it when you buy a record online, and then when you get it out of the sleeve at home it's a coloured vinyl. Ahhh... simple things....

coloured vinyls are just awkward, especially picture ones.

yup coloured look ok but try using em in a dark smokey club, there hard to see the start of tracks etc......dunno if its coloured thats the prob or the fact ther see through.

think a non see-through coloured would be ok....

Picture discs are apain in the ass, Espess when its dark you carnt see the track start and finish on the vinyl . . and ive noticed most my picture ones are either scratched or just sound poo

why would the colour mean different sound quality then  :eh:

Yeah I don't get that either how would the colour alter the sound? Surely its the actual wax thickness etc and how its cut that does that! :eh:

in general ive found the vinyl i have thats coloured to be ever so slightly lower quality, only a smidgen but ive never dug coloured vinyl, i think its something to do with the pigments of ink/dye on the record

but im probably wrong

the good thing about white vinyl
is that you can write stuff on it in marker pen:

like " break here" and " no not this side you idiot the other side!!!!"

Note: You can do this on any old vinyl.

It will be harder to read on black.

i like my coloured vinyls cos i can sit at home with them with the lights on and touch myself, whilst looking at all the pretty colours,
but when i go out into the dark dingy parties, i cant make the colours out...so i get all confused

nah see through vinyl is weird, you can see the grooves from the other side, so when you think a tunes gonna break down it dosent as its the grooves on the other side... highly confusing

Everyone agrees that coloured vinyl is pretty but more tricky to mix on, but i'm still clueless as to why they would have lower sound quality.

At face value the idea seems absurd that the colour would affect the sound quality but, not knowing how vinyl is pressed, i'm willing to accept that there maybe a scientific explanation behind this. anyone?
