Im confused, correct me if I wrong, but didn't Glenn clear the sample from some porn site? Therefore the rights to the vocals actually belong to the owners of the site, meaning he ripped off the site, not Glenn?
Don't get me wrong, the track is atrocious, but everyone seem's to be overlooking this fact!?

i dont have a problem with people sampling stuff really, if its to a point that what they do with it is in a positive manner, hence this thread
"how not to rip a loop"
if it was took and laid over some fat beats with some crazy f*****d up filter madness with some banging percussion and mad edits then the thread would read.
"oooow yea pump my frosset pouch with a rampant rabbit and call me sally, this is how to rip a loop"
MARKEG
20-08-2005, 10:17 AM
hold on...
this track is one loop and one vocal and ahhemm a really badly EQ'd ride cymbal. the vocal wouldn't be an issue if it hadn't been such a big club hit, anyway... it's too blatent.. this is the problem with computers, cracks and no sense of creativity.
BTW NO WE DIDNT BLATENTLY SAMPLE GLENN. We did a remix on Hereos, so obviously had his samples!!! And if anything WAS sounding similar it might have had something to do with the fact us and glenn shared loops at that time. This was before a time that most ppl used loops!!! Right now, we don't use a loop without serious miss mashing it into our sound. Please don't tar us with the K-Hole brush!!!!
This track is so bad for techno. Producers out there need to realise you need to think about things more. Distributors need to wise up to this. I really hope this happens.

Editing means that if you've been a cunt you can make yourself look wicked. Sorry but that's not the way life is, in reality is it. I hate this whole behind a computer/faceless thing. If you're gonna say something, say it. But don't go back on yourself 6 months later (which i see in nearly all forums i visit).
I really understand ppl have a genuine need to edit spellings and stuff, but there's no way i can diffrentiate the two things, so I have to keep the edit button off.
Perhaps this is what makes this forum so genuine. Anyway, sorry you havent got an edit button. Just click the preview button before you post, read it through and make sure it's totally what you want to say ;)

It's funny that this site recently has spent more time devoting energy to discussing what is considered garbage. At least, that's how it seems to me right now. A shit loop? Who cares. Why even give it attention then?
On a side note,
Editing means that if you've been a cunt you can make yourself look wicked.
I installed a mod for this specific purpose. Aside from that standard "user edited message on X date" footer you have at the bottom of the post, it will also say the total percent of the message that was edited. Frankly, I find the inability to edit messages incredibly annoying. On a side note, for all the times that someone would make themselves look like a cunt, you can kill their ability to edit that by quoting the message. Simple enough.

When is a ripped loop koher? Seriously, I want to know. There have been no shortage of "techno" tracks that have ripped loops from all different genres. Why, in some circumstances is it not cool? I've heard no shortage of techno tracks that have ripped loops, and not even altered them, that people considered slamming. What is it that makes it a bad thing? Is it merely when the loop is ripped from another techno track? Because, under that logic, I'd say there's no shortage of "techno" producers that owe Public Enemy, and numerous other hip-hop producers, a serious amount of royalties and spologies.

See, here's how I fall on it. I know for a fact that I've ripped samples from just about anything. For the energy of the track, sometimes I've altered them and sometimes I've left them completely untouched. It just seems that, when it comes to criticism, from other producers or DJs especially, there really is no telling when someone will accuse of being a straight rip-off or a "creative" sampler. Fortunately, I've been lucky enough to not have been accused of stealing from other people. But, in my own mind, and as far as laws are concerned, I'm well aware of the fact that what I have done is, for all intensive purposes, "theft." The degree to which the techno community has made this an issue as of late has been truly perplexing as I have seen no clear cut lines drawn anywhere.

What is it that makes it a bad thing? Is it merely when the loop is ripped from another techno track? .
samplings not a bad thing i dont mind sampling at all, there would be many struggling track makers sometimes without that little low running sample in the background, hell ive even sampled airlock doors from movies for claps, so sampling in techno really has been a progression even for those who dont like to admit it. For most its a powerfull tool "if done right" that aint done right..........
the thread was how not to rip a loop........not the ethics & morals beind sampling.
