Just out of interest, how do any of you go about putting together your tunes.
I use reason and cubase and spend a lot of time putting together 16 or 32 bars of stuff that I like the sound of but unfortunately thats as far as some of them get.
I find that when I actually lay down the structure of the tune from the opening bars, laying down the percussion and then maybe the bass and working out roughly how I want the tune to develop, it seems to come together more as a complete compisition but I then feel like I'm just puuting in leads etc to fit the tune as opposed to just plain improvisation.
I don't suppose it really matters how you do it but I was just curious.
You probably think I'm talikng a lot of crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i totally agree, i'm doing exactly the same thing! i guess it's just a matter of time, messing around with different sounds and the track just evolves by itself. I reckon the harder you try though, the worse it it! Just chill and go with the flow!

i always try and get a melody first (cus i make uplifting trance), then work out a kick that fits with the melody, then i useally fit the percs in with how the kick goes , then i always do my bass last to fit with the melody
