Thursday September 1st
Roman Flügel [Alter Ego / Klang - Frankfurt]
Giles Armstrong [electricity]
Admission - e10 / e8 members
This Thursday we are happy to welcome back Alter Ego's Roman Flügel to
Electric City for his debut Irish DJ set. Roman, alongside Alter Ego partner
Jörn Elling Wuttke, so nearly played Electric City last year only to be
foiled at the last minute by a technical hitch of weasel proportions.
Although currently busy in the studio recording the follow up to their
groundbreaking Transphomer LP, we are delighted Roman has decided to take
some time out from his busy studio schedule to come and DJ at EC. Alter Ego
are just about the hottest act on the planet right now and with every track
and remix they touch seeming to go stellar Roman is set to rock the EC
basement.
A cracking producer in his own right, Roman has delivered one of the biggest
tracks of the last year or so in Geht's Nocht, which first appeared on Sven
Vath's Cocoon label before it was quickly signed up by Fatboy Slim for his
Skint label as the follow up to their massive hit Rocker.
Before Geht's Nocht went Top of the Pops Mr. Flügel had recorded numerous
records under the following names: Acid Jesus, Alter Ego, Sensorama (all
together with his studio partner Jörn Elling Wuttke) and solo Eight Miles
High, Soylent Green, Tracks on Delivery, Roman IV, Ro70. He has co-produced
two of Uncle Sven albums ("Contact", "Fire") and has released EP's in
collaboration with David Holmes, David Moufang (founder of well known
Electronica Label Source Records) and Robert Forster from the Australian
Band The Go Betweens. Roman has released many EP's on Ladomat, Source,
Cocoon, Harthouse, R & S Records and is part of the Klang Elektronik /
Playhouse / Ongaku axis of labels which he considers his constant home base,
not only as an musician but also as an A & R for other artists such as
Isoleé, Losoul and Ricardo Villalobos.
He has done remixes for Blaze, Carsten Jost, Steve O'Sullivan and more
recently for Jennifer Cardini on Crosstown Rebels. As part of Alter Ego he
has done remixes for legendary names such as Primal Scream and The Human
League as well as newer bands like Chicks on Speed and Subculture.
As a DJ Roman plays deep, minimal and very freaky German Tech-House
and has played at every club worth its salt in Germany such as: WMF /
Berlin, Panorama bar / Berlin, Ultraschall / München, Robert Johnson /
Frankfurt, U60311 / Frankfurt, Studio 672 / Köln, Golden Pudel / Hamburg.
Outside of ze Vaterland he has played at The Rex / Paris, Club Nitsa /
Barcelona, Cocoon / Ibiza to name but a few. For more information on Roman
check out the Eight Mile High site http://www.8mh.de.
Support on the night comes from EC resident Giles Armstrong who will be
trying hard not to play any on the tracks listed below in Roman's chart.

2.Oliver Koletzki - Mückenschwarm (Cocoon)
