Producing dance music and performing live for over eight years, Noah Pred emerged from Vancouver's underground as a sought-after techno DJ with a sophisticated sound and unique style. Devoted to authentic and soulful strains of techno in all its permutations, Noah's sound continues to evolve while remaining firmly driven by the dancefloor.
Since his first records came out in the late nineties, his productions, have received international support, appearing on charts from renowned talent such as Carl Cox, Cari Lekebusch, and Laurent Garnier. His subsequent 12-inch EPs and remixes have continued to garner critical acclaim while moving dancefloors across the globe, appearing on playlists from Tokyo to Glasgow.
As a DJ and live act, Noah has travelled throughout Europe and North America, performing alongside such diverse artists as Funk D'Void, James Holden and Mathew Jonson. After working as assistant A&R for Consigned Recordings in Montreal, Noah applied his label skills by spearheading the Pacific Technics project, a triple-vinyl compilation benefiting Amnesty International. The Pacific Technics CD, selected and mixed by Noah Pred, was released in June 2004.
He currently runs two record labels - Metapath Recordings and Sentient Sound - from his rainforest studio headquarters.
Rennie “Dubnut” Foster has been a significant force in the Western Canadian music scene for nearly two decades. Influencing many as a very young pioneer of the Hip-Hop/B-Boy movement and later the House Music and Techno/Rave community. After visiting Japan several times to play, Rennie fell in love with the techno oriented Tokyo club scene and recently relocated permanently to Tokyo where he now resides with his 5 year old Japanese twin daughters, the main source of inspiration for this dedicated single father and full time vinyl pilot.
Rennie has been making himself heard lately with a well recieved string of singles and remixes as both a solo artist and with partner Kan Shinomura as Futago Technologies. The Japanese word Futago means twins and Kan is also a father of 5 year old twins, born only hours apart from Rennie`s children... its this kind of fate that has guided the Futago Tech. project to great success so far including the heavily played Samedi remixes and the much loved Tokyo Tech-Funk Tribe E.P. on Gary Martin`s seminal Detroit imprint Teknotika. Respected tech-soul pioneer Fabrice Lig was quoted as refering to the release and Futago project as "the new link between Detroit and Tokyo" and now Kan and Rennie will up that anti with a double pack release "Subject:Tokyo" on Dj Bone`s definative Subject:Detroit label remixed by one of techno music`s founding fathers Jaun Atkins no less. Rennie`s solo tracks "HotLZ-13" and "Genkaku" will also be featured on Dj Bone`s upcoming Mix CD "Subject:Detroit Vol.3"
Rennie`s releases and remixes on labels such as Damon Wild`s Synewave, Pure Plastic sublabel Rewired and Detroit`s legendary Soiree have been given stellar reviews in magazines and websites such as DJ XLR8R, Loud, Mixer, littledetroit.net, DJ Times, and Mixmag plus charting and support from major industry figures such as Dave Angel, Dave Clarke, Laurent Garnier, Jeff Mills, Leandro Gamez, Paul Mac, Bando, Derrick Carter, Kevin Saunderson, Derrick May, UMEK and David Duriez. Rennie`s house stormer Mirror in the Mornin`on Seattle`s Free The Funk records was supported heavily by Pete Tong on his essential mix show and Rennie`s deep and hypnotic Pavilion was recently featured alongside music from heavy hitting producers such as Tim Xavier, Adam Jay and Asad Risvi on the Pacific Technics Peace Compilation, a high profile amnesty international sanctioned anti-war project.
Rennie and the Futago Technologies team also run the Futago Traxx label through Rhythmic NYC and InterGROOVE GmbH. The label has been attracting alot of attention for its unique sound, a fusion of melodic Detroit techno with classic tribal elements. Recently in URB magazine, tribal techno icon Ben Sims voiced enthusiastic support for Rennie and his crew and listed Futago Technologies in his top 5 new producers. Ben plays much of Futago`s material on his well known radio gig “The Split Show” and has invited Rennie as a guest DJ on the program. With the Futago “Senpu” relaese on Ben`s definative tribal label IngomA plus current and upcoming releases on so many other great labels such as Monoid, F..U,F.com, Adrenogroov, Bipolar, Gotham Grooves, Saboteur Musique, X-Plor, Bear Knuckle, Communique etc. , Rennie`s profile as a producer is growing at an intense rate with no signs of slowing down.
Rennie and the Futago set also host the popular radio program Trbalife on samurai.fm and host regular club events in Tokyo at hot spots such as Loop, Womb, Core, Simoon, Game, Rock West, La Fabrique, Acid Panda and Module.
Utilizing three turntables and often effects aswell, the “Dubnut” mixes a fusion of lush Detroit techno, stormy tribal rhythms, classic electro and jackin` Chicago style house music.. all programmed immaculately with a technical , tricky style including furious cutting, scratching and beat juggling. Rennie has showcased his unique sound in clubs and venues all over North America , Europe and Asia alongside top players like Frankie Knuckles, Daniel Bell, Grandmaster Flash, C1, Ben Sims, Drivetrain, Ken Ishi, John Selway, Cari Lekabusch, Joel Mull, Mark Farina, Gemini, Johnny Fiasco, King Britt, Doc Martin, Stacey Pullen... the list goes on.
All in all Rennie Foster is a hard working purveyor of high quality techno based music, a dedicated student of dance music`s rich history and a steadfast believer in the bright future of electronic music. Many influential and respected pioneers of the industry are looking to Rennie to carry the torch as one of the next wave of ground breakers and Mr.Foster is more than ready to let his ideas, musical and otherwise shine.
Tune in, sit back, relax, and enjoy the sounds from Gotham City…….
