i've finally worked out how to assign a fader on my MC505 to control tempo in ableton, but i find the fader too sensitive. is there anyway to shorten the range of tempo in ableton, or alternatively, shorten the midi number range of the fader on the MC505?

never used a 505 but there should be a midi edit function on it. you could set the range from 0 - 80. wouldn't give you full volume but would make it less sensetive. just adjust the master tempo for more volume.

either set min-max range on your 505, either press midi assigne button in ableton, look at the bottom of the screen where it sais map mode and oyu have few options to choose - absolute, relative, etc. try them out.

then you must restrict the midi range in your 505

no no no. Easy way to limit the tempo range is go to Arrange Screen.
Go down to the master track and open it up.
you'll see the tempo min and max range there which you can set and save in the track.
you'll love it!
