Newbie. Needs advice if possible?

Hi Everyone.

New to this forum and new to hard techno. I'm looking for suggestions for tunes, artists and labels i should look out for etc to put me on the right track.

I'm into hardhouse but it's a bit to cheesy for my likeing, so i want something with the same energy and pace but no cheese.

Any suggestions

Patrik Skoog can be pretty damn good.

Go to the mixes section of the board and download some of those.

Listen at online record stores to hear if there is stuff you can find that you like.

If all else fails, go to the record store and prepare to spend 4 hours there listening and finding what you like. You are in the UK and you still have techno record stores. I can't say the same for DC and you have no idea how much I miss digging through crates for those gems. ;)

theres lots of good stuff. like S/E says it would be worth goin through juno or something. but off the top of my head check out audio assault, jackstar, lars klein, martyn hare, dj rush, primate, dj bam bam, switchblade, gunjack, artillery, 4x4, all consistent labels/artists.

you might like the ghetto sht too... very hard n boucy.... try space djs, Jammie Bissmire, Ben Long, Dj Bam Bam, Jerome Hill.

In the techno files there 3 good mixes from the night Jakn in Scotland.... have a listen to them!

Check out: Alex Calver, Dave the Drummer, Blipped Out Records, Stay Up Forever Collective labels, etc. A great place to check out tunes is 2thebeat.com. Great samples and they are a good length. They also have a digital download section set up if you are looking to buy MP3's.

The Stay Up Forever Collective also has excellent samples and digital downloads on their site for most of their labels. Highly recommend checking them out. Lots of variety.

Yoshitoshi was OK. I went there a couple of times while I was visiting here. It's been gone for a few years though.
