I don't know about this one to be honest. I bought the first one which I thought was phat but I'm undecided about this one. It is a diiferent kind of record to the first one so maybe I just need to give it a bit of time.

I have to agree, on first listen it doesn't do much for me but in saying that I have found it quite hard to get into a few of his e.p's!!! Regardless I have bought a few and whilst being on there way over from England have qeustioned my judgement in buying them, but I always end up liking them!!!
heavy!
always liked slavo's music, ever since we found parametar jedna & dva, legendary kne deep releases
plus he's excellent dj, we had him here few times...
always thought he'll become bigger, dunno...

I quite like Boss' productions. Broken beats in a very unusual almost electronicalike way. Not just One Two Three One Two Three like all the other slovaks.

He definitely has a nice take on the broken beat thing.
It seems to have more oomph and power than the usual fair.

Well I thought this was the jumpoff for real.
This broken beat track stood out to me alot more than some of the other material from more popular producers, so I gave it the big it up!

Nice one SOS...
Oh, thats the shit there... that is serious as you say...
I get the weekly mailout of new releases from Juno and its usually very upsetting.. 15 or so 'techno' tracks, mostly absolute muck... how does so much crap make it to vinyl? ... I don't know...
... but that shit there? .. as you say, serious!!
GO ON THE BOSS!!!

.. although the link you gave is only to one of the tracks and if anyone actually just listened to that one track, they might not be too blown away, but the rest of the ep is excellent...

Found it now lol it was the RED little play icon. How artsy.
1 rocks (which I have on vinyl I think).
2,3,4 all too jolly for me.
5 futuristic, nice.
6 I like how nothing comes in like you would expect it do. This is Boss' best quality in my opinion, very inventive.
7,8 a bit too easy for your skills.
9 Best Of Bratislava 2002 ;)

this is good, but i dont see why ppl are creaming themselves.. nothing ground breaking. jus good production.
like soooo many artists these days. kids are creaming & in truth, theres nothing remotley new or innovative going on.
Conan
06-03-2006, 02:38 PM
Well you can say that about all new techno that comes out if you like. It depends on how critical you want to be. The truth is that if you want to hear something ground breaking it probably isnt going to be techno, thats not say that it cant happen but it's unlikely for the moment I think.
These tracks are pretty fresh and so are his other releases as well. The standard is high and given the current environment release wise I would say that from what I've heard of him Dj Boss is one of the better new producers out there. No its not ground breaking but since techno as a form of music has been around how much ground breaking stuff has actually come out? (Serious question, not rhetorical)
Buttman

I think Boss is groundbreaking on his own grounds (the Eastern Bloc sound). He has a very innovative and mechanically twisted way of building rhythmics that make them sound almost electronica.

dont get me wrong.. i aint dissing Boss at any juncture.
its the ppl hyping him. this happens every few months. the usual suspects start building someone up as 'the next big thing' when it clearly isnt.
i heard the ep at the w'end. its top f**king work & no mistake, but the hypers are ripping it again.
i dont understand why they do this

Well, I don't know really.
There's not a whole lot of 'good' records coming out, and when I say 'good' I guess you could class heaps of stuff from 5 or so years as being this. Good, solid releases that were coming out regularly... your Shufflemasters, Advents and so on.
No one is hyping this, merely saying that they really like it, and that Boss has a bit of an edge in what he does, which I think is true.
It's like before, not everyone would have been patting Oliver Ho on the back as much when he put out a record, because we expected him to come good all the time, just like Beyer, Mills, Surgeon, Regis etc. Now Ho puts out a record and we can't stop saying enough good things about him... and it's because we're not spoilt anymore, and really value some records more than we might have before in a way?
I think the 'hype' as you put it is merely extra appreciation for a good, solid record that is in shorter supply these days, and for a producer who is on form.

Incunabula ? what is is ? thnx
This one:
http://www.discogs.com/release/29900
I'll have to route it out, but I'm sure there is a track on it that's main loop sounds extremely similar to the one I hear on track 6. Not trying to play detective here or anything! It could just be a coincidence and doesn't bother me at all... it just sounds very alike and reminded me of it ;)
dirty_bass
06-03-2006, 07:30 PM
ain`t no hype, just appreciation of someone doing something a bit different in techno, that is still kicking.
As far as dancefloor techno goes, it`s pretty inovative.
He ain`t the next big thing, he`s just a good producer Pete doing something different.
He`s sent me a demo of 15 tracks for my new label and I gotta say, I`m more excited about what`s gonna be on it than 80% of the other stuff I`ve had sent.

No it`s not subjective, show me anyone doing what he is doing in techno.
Go on.

Lol.
God forbid, someone says ooh I like this.
It would not be cool to do that.
Unless the person crying about it was the one getting props.
I'm tired of the sore loser approach.
Why not give the next man props.
No one said he was coming in on some next shit.
Bottom line the lot of everybody here is saying
Hey this kid is nice with his.
This thread is on page four already.
Instead of coming in here like a crybaby saying I don't see what is so special or groundbreaking.
Why not tip your hat to someone in the same struggle as the rest of us.
I pointed out this ep cause the shit caught my ear.
Page four later, obviously I am not the only one.
