It's March the 3rd, 3.03, and here at the Poke we're not ones to look a gift horse in the mouth, so this month we celebrate two decades of acidic bleeps and squelches and bow down before the majesty of the Roland tb-303.
In the main room it's acid all the way as we are proud to present the pioneers of British Acid House, 808 State, formed in Manchester in the late eighties, 808 State were among the first in this country to take on the new sound coming out of Chicago, since then they have gone on to tour the world, play stadiums and work with the likes of Bjork, not too shabby!
Keeping the acid vibe live we have rave legend Egebamyasi, a true acid hero, Mr Egg has resisted the advances of technology and will performing completely live with around half a dozen different drum machines and keyboards.
As if that wasnt enough the main room also sees the debut UK set from Croation DJ, Qwerty, whose brain fried mixes of old school rave, electro and acid caught our attention on the world famous Solid Steel radio show and a back to back acid set from John Power and DJ SP who will be showcasing twenty years worth of wonky music.
But we're not all about celebrating the past, so in the back room we have live sets from some of the most up and coming producers on the block, Soma's Vector Lovers, whose pristine beautiful electro has gained him a growing legion of fans and Yila who expertly mixes strange noises and complicated rhythmic structures with glorious innocent sounding melodies.
Throw in DJ sets from Skam Records Rob Hall and one half of Warp's Two Lone Swordsmen, Radioactive Man and you have another quality packed line-up from what over the past year has become one of London's leading electro nights.
