I've seen posts here on best plugs but not everyone goes into massive detail about why.
So let's start!
One of my fave plugs:
The new PSP608.
This is insane. I've never seen a plugin with such control. All other delays are so limited. I bought it the day I tried the demo. In fact, it shits all over any delay I have outboard and I lived off my outboard delay for 6 years!
OK so let's get the ball rollin!!! any more for any more?!!!
psp vintage warmer coz its so fat!

Well if you knew how many plugins i have here you could understand this is not an easy task for me   (/showoff mode off  )
And i think this could be divided into payware and free ones as well. Maybe even categories.
Let's start:
Elevayta Space Boy v2.07

Auto-Eqs two sources that are similar in spectrum, i.e. kick and bass. You set one as a transmitter (Tx) on the kick channel in this example and another instance (Receive; Rx) on the bass channel.
Then both sources will be adjusted so they fit together nicely.
You can export files from this to Voxengo's Gliss Eq (nice, too!!!), if you want.
Nothing you can't do by hand. But me likey.

In this context the aforementioned Gliss Eq by Voxengo comes in handy as well.

Offering two put one instance on one channel and another on another channel and then enable 'Overlay spectrum' to see where frequencies overlap each other and then eq accordingly.

There's a free tool called Poshifopit that offers the same via 'Masterfopit option'

That's it starting with Eqs ;)

Delay - just the really boring one called Delay that comes with Protools is my toy of the week. It's letting me turn drums into pitched instruments, like a 14.44ms delay gives you a C# if you feed it a small enough piece of a drum and set the feedback to 80-90% ... think BT and you'll be there. It's like really simple granular synthesis.
Make the delay times left and right + and - a few milliseconds and low and behold you have the same effect in stereo!

Antares tube. Use it on nearly everything. Like lots.
Wavez multimaximiser is pretty shit hot for mastering.
All the wavez eq's comps reverbs etc... not the most exciting but all essential tools

It`s just the loveliest analogue sounding synth.

My fave analogue sounding synth by far.

you always name that one, steve! i must def. have a deeper look at that one :) even the free version p8 gets really nice reviews:

right now i am getting a really decent (sub)bass from wasp xt which comes with fruity loops.
you know this oxia, filterheadz whatever bass :eyes:
one or two presets for sub already in there.
i have told myself to stick with that one for my bass for a while.
in addition to that i really like the sound of this one, when it comes to 303 sounds (i know it's been done to death):

im liking the Sonic Charge Micro TOnic too... the sounds have a warm digital feel IMO. really nice for weird minimal kicks, hats and perx. i dont think its a sample based drum synth and u can hear it. there are only a few tweakable knobs so u can get into it quick too.

iZotope Spectron... God you can do bizaar stuff with this plugin. Really neat idea, and I haven't seen anything like it except for that new plugin "EQUO" (which is useful for other things too) in the latest version of FL Studio. If it had the ability to route output from the various split frequency bands to internally hosted VSTs and automate them via LFOs/ evenlopes/ external MIDI it'd be just about perfect.
iZotope Ozone... Yes I am a fan of this company
Waves MaxxBass. For THICK basslines
Sendarella: Extermely useful freeware VST plugin useful for routing sound between programs and routing paths that aren't supported by your VST host.
KORG MS20. Nearly as cool as a MS2000B
EDIT: How could I forget - REAKTOR!!!

Run allong and play with your Albino now, there's a good lad :)
Have to agree with you there. So easy to write new patches for it too. Z3ta+ fits into that category, and has a plethora of very usable presets.

i think it's the interface i like here. once you get into it, it's very easy to understand. plus it's got all the delay params you've ever need. the drive is lovely, it's based around the tape saturation algoritms that alot of other psp products have. and i personally love it.
we actually turned the feedback up today on a kick to a stupid high figure and then filtered the feedback into some crazy analog sounding synth. it just blew we away that i could do this on a delay with such presicion.
very cool.
