Transparent Sound - LIVE [Electrix Records]
Noid the Droid [Galway]
Simon Conway [Electricity]
Admission 6 euro
Transparent Sound are back! They rocked the club in June at our Electrix
Records party and now Orson & Martin are touring to promote their cracking
new Mini LP 'Dirty Curtains & Football Posters' coming soon on Orson
Records. They will be performing a completely new live set of up-tempo
dancefloor electro. Coming in from the west is Noid the Droid for his
Electric City debut while finishing off the night will be Electric City
resident Simon Conway.
Transparent Sound are one of the UK's longest-running electro acts. Formed
in 1994 by Orson Bramley and Martin Brown, both of whom grew up hip hop,
electro, '70s electronica and seminal proto-electro groups Visage and
Cabaret Voltaire, they set about creating their own unique and thoroughly
futuristic vision of electronic music. Their first 12" was released in 1995
on their own Transparent Sound Recordings imprint. 2002 was a great year for
Transparent Sound due to two well-received releases. The first of these was
'Beatz Clash', a double-pack mix CD alongside Keith Tenniswood
(Haywire/Rotters Golf Club/2 Lone Swordsmen) on Long Haul. While
Tenniswood's mix focused on the harder breaks style, Transparent Sound's mix
explored a darker, more melodic strain of electro. They followed this later
in the year with their own debut artist album 'Emotional Amputation' on
Billy Nasty's Electrix imprint.
The 'Emotional Amputation' tour that followed saw the group rocking dance
floors from London to Leeds, Stockholm, Malmo, Dublin and Manchester. This
tour continues in 2003 with dates in the US and further trips across Europe.
Transparent Sound are well-respected live performers on the international
club scene, having played at such leading nightspots as Fabric (London),
Berns (Stockholm), Shine (Belfast), The End (London), Electric City
(Dublin), The Orbit (Leeds) and Dance Valley (Amsterdam).
'Emotional Amputation' received rave reviews and was voted 'Electro Album of
the Year' by Jockey Slut Magazine. Radio support came from Laurent Garnier,
Radio Nova, Tayo (Orson contributed a mix for his Kiss FM show) and Milo
(the pair did a live mix for his Kiss FM show), the album charted highly in
7 Magazine's buzz chart and club support came from the likes of Laurent
Garnier, Dave Clarke, Andy Weatherall and Billy Nasty.
