Being in Limelight Nyc around 1995
Hearing a song that jacked like nothing I ever heard before
Glenn Frisca was spinning.
Had a sample to De La Souls Saturdays
I was spinning house at the time
So when I went on my quest to find that record
It was Laidback Luke Act The Fool on Touche Records.
The crowd went off!
That record started the beginning to my introduction to what is good jacking techno.
The shit people danced to.
Not sat there and listened to, so they may hear one discrepancy in production value.
F*ckin' black turtle neck snobs ruined fun in techno.
You can quote me on that.

You'll laugh at how recent this is in comparison to some of the things posted up already but Cox @ the crobar was a big one (it no longer is as big as i once thought it be  ) then came Dave Clarke @ Fuse, and finally Mills @ The Liquid Room all have shaped or influenced my taste in electronic music!

Was probably old hardcore techno of some sort... I remember Easygroove being one of my faves from the tapes I used to have.

Hearing some old acid stuff on John Peel years ago, no idea what it was but it was banging... sowed the seeds at any rate.

The first techno set I rememeber seeing that really made me sit up and go yep, this is ****ing great and I want more of this please (rather than just being some music in the background to get shitfaced to) was DAVE the drummer at the old angel in notts.

Cheers for that Henry :toast:

Chris Liebing and Dave Clarke at Dance Valley in 2000. Me and my friends had gone over fully into the late nineties Hard House sounds of Tinrib and Nucleuz. I came back fully converted and started spending all my money on European Techno and London Acid Techno...

Some old breakdance tapes I bought from a pirate radio stall when I was about 10 or 11.
they were C90s with 45 mins each side of 909 and 808 sequences, like one long mix.
Great stuff, had me jacking from an early age.
