Well seeing its the 1st birthday dark & digital have teamed up with jasbof to make this 1st year show it has been wirth it , we have come a long way and its been worth it !!!
We also welcome JEROME HILL playing 2 sets ..
Jerome got his turntables in 1990 after being inspired by the pirate radio sounds of London. He began buying hip hop, house, breakbeat and early european techno . In 1994 he hooked up with infamous London soundsystem "JIBA" and further developed his scratching and mixing style for which he has now become known. Always making an effort to be original and different he began getting booked by London promoters and has played alongside many of techno's great innovators including Landstrumm, Rother, Forshaw and Subhead ...Drawing influences from the Chicago sound of Relief and Dancemania combined with the no-school sound of Brighton and Edinburgh he plays a mixture of everything encompassing all techno strains, HipHop, ragga, Old hardcore and everything in between...all with a SPECIAL twist and never losing the flow !! Was recently given a mention in DJ magazine`s top 100 DJ`s 2003 by fellow Londoners Chris liberator and Dave the drummer as someone to definately watch out for.
He is resident DJ at the UGLYFUNK club night now based in London and regularly plays around the world in countries like Brazil, Spain, France, Poland, and Venezuela as well as up and down the UK. When he`s not gigging he plays every weekend at London warehouses for soundsystems (Bedlam, Manik, Black Sheep Restless Natives etc.)
He runs London`s "Trackheads" record shop in Camden Town(www.trackheads.co.uk), specialising in techno and electro which took over after his last shop "Dragon Discs" closed down (for the last 7 years in all) .Jerome is half of GROOVE ASYLUM, who featured on DON`T001+002 and a host of other labels. They also play live PA`s and Jerome can be found keeping the crowd guessing what`s coming next on London soundsystems every weekend as part of his mission to keep discovering and promoting new, interesting and outlandish techno music.
Production work, as half of Groove Asylum with Rob Stow, has been released on a host of labels including their own label, Don’t, and also Gravitation and Uber. He has also released as DJ Jerome on Gravitation, Hydraulix, Audio, Artefact and Yolk. Groove Asylum play live PA`s regularly and can be found keeping the crowd guessing what is coming next on London soundsystems every weekend as part of the mission to keep discovering and promoting new, interesting and freakish techno music. Don’t records came about in 1999 as an outlet for the productions of Groove Asylum. There is no concrete agenda for the label although the tracks are usually a meeting of the jacking sound of Chicago and the more abstract no-skool wonky UK techno sound. The aim is to blend the normally unblendable and to release tracks that stick out in a set whilst shocking and annoying the techno purists e.g. The now extinct DONT001 featured a rap running the whole way through the track and was played on Radio 1 by John Peel, whilst DONT002 is currently doing damage at the hands of DJ Rush, DJ BAM BAM and all the London jocks..
Expect Jerome to pull off one of the best techno sets your likely to see, followed by his mash up antics ...this isnt one to be missed!
