right i'm doin a backing track for an advert some students have done. anyone seen any interesting articles on the net giving advice on doin music for adverts. as i'm having a real hard time syncing the music to the edits, and knowing what bpm or time signature to use

ya know, like the advert in a comic strip style?

when you slow down the advert it should function in diffrent frames and im not sure how to do it myself but this is how you get the music to work with the sound?

i saw it on tv once, so dont know any great detail.

what are you using to sync up the picture

if you are using cubase then you can open the video in a track and it should appear frame by frame along the timeline

Yeah, essentially nuendo is great for this.
Cubase will do.
In terms of bpm, I wouldn`t, I`d score to the edit, if thats the way they want you to work. that`s generally the proper way.
However if it`s dance music you are putting to the advert, then really it should be as close to the edit as possible and then they should re cut the edit to the beat.

That`s how I did things when I was doing my degree anyway.

i'm using logic, which seems pretty good for what i'm doing.

i've pretty much finished it now, just gone for pads and effects rather than perc, as there's not enough time to re-edit it.

pretty interesting as its a completetely different way of working to making a normal track

you mean, making loose structured music is different from a dance track :clown:
