audiorealism bassline.
put down a simple pattern in its step sequencer, then automate the drive, resonance, and distortion controls. thats a good place to start.

the 303 is all about the accent.
Audiorealism bassline does this well.
Make a fat funky melody, then put max velocity on the notes you want accented, and lower velocity on the rest.
I think audiorealism cut for accenting is above 100 on velocity parameter
then overdrive the bugger, a little chorus, loads of res and stick the accent about half way or more.
Classic acid.

make sure you use the internal sequencer. the slides are a lot nicer and more twisted... and an old trick - keep to the black keys. minor 303 lines can be a lot darker and twisted.
and use a midi controller rather than automation (go to options and the cc values are supplied) this will give you a much more human feel.. sometimes mistakes are what make 303 lines.

the first thing to do would be grab your shit wipe it all over yoursellf and and whack something from spectrasonics Trilogy on it. all guitars covered for there. i love the plucked acoustic bass patches.... theyre sweet for a bit o natural funk!!
