hey all, i'm looking for a fairly inexpensive mic to record the odd home-made percussion sound into ableton with. I'm on a budget, so anything over $200 is out of the question. I know absolutely nothing about mics, so what would you recommend for a mic-noob like me? This is going to be used in my bedroom/closet, just for specifics sake.

I'll forth that.

More than that you need to ensure that the vocal is as dry as possible. Try using a curtain in a circle with the mic in the middle.

Good recordings start with good sounding environments.

M-Audio Luna is a good budget large diaphragm mic if you want something with a little character and a lot of warmth.
You will need a pre-amp though.

ive got a Shure PG58 and a Shure PG81, mainly use the 81 for recording guitars and stuff with mates really good mic and the 58 is classic for vocals really

the curtain idea is good, prevents alot of echo
