youonly get about 6-10% as a student. your best bet is finding some one thats VAT registered and put it through there business as you'll save the vat. if your gonna dothe student thing they'll want u to fax them a student id. jigsaw 24 are really good for macs. every1 is usually around the same price
I got one... it rocks. Got the Macbook pro. Needed the video card.
Its only as fast as the appz. Ableton 5 doest support multicore on the mac.. will do in version 6. Im running windows on the partition too.. VERY convenient.
Logic rocks on it... 4Xalbino 3 2x Rob Papens Blue 8 x compresors, a reverb and a filter.. loads of EQ and no more then 40-50%CPU.. breathing REAL easy.

my 2ghz macbook can do 4x albino 3, 4x blue, and 2x Microtonic, with all 5 effects slots filled on each channel, plus 3 channels of apple loops, with the effects filled, 65 plugins running at the same time, and only then does it start to burp.

I'd go student as well.
When you speak to them they give you loads of free shit.
I got about 15% off the price, then they doubled my ram and hard drive for £15 extra.
Bargain.
And then you can claim the VAT back assuming you are registered.

Got any relatives studying? Or friends?
My mum was doing a phd, and they were more than happy to sell it to me. Friendly folk at apple.
Gave me an ipod for £20 as well, sold it on ebay for £100 - bonus!
Jups same here.... I told the guy that by the time I was going to buy the thing I wouldnt be a student any more... He still gave me the discount.....
