Magda [m_nus.com - Berlin]
Donnacha Costello - Live [minimise.com]
Daniel McElligot [Test]
Admission: e12 [Door] - e10 [Tickets available from Selectah Records / www.tickets.ie]
On August 10th we welcome back Magda, who first played the club over two years ago to a minimal audience inside the Metropolitan. Since then, her profile has grown and grown and she is now recognised worldwide as one of the leading DJs and producers in music today. Born in Poland, this much travelled lady has lived in Texas, Detroit & New York before finally deciding to settle in the current home of techno, Berlin. Her releases and remixes both as a solo artist and as part of Run Stop Restore have become staples in the sets of Hawtin, Villalobos and Vath. She was one of the best DJs we heard in the Metroplitan and, much like when Alexander Robotnick played to a small faithful on his Electric City debut, the word has spread to the street and now the return is going to blow the roof off.
Playing before Magda, will be one of Irelands best techno producers Donnacha Costello. DC last played EC before Tory Pierce but a fused power supply meant it was more minimal than a Raster Noton double-pack of John Cage remixes. We're glad to have him back for a proper unreasonably hard rocking night of music. Donnacha's live show is up there ranked amongst the best in Europe right now as witnessed by his myriad club and festival appearances through the past 12 months. Despite that, it's a rare occasion when Donnacha plays live in his home city so this is an occasion not to be missed.
First up spinning the wax in Wax will be ex-Ireland Basketball Player, Daniel McElligot - a true fan of the Teutonic tunes, Dan was well versed in the art of bunking into Electric City as an under-age usurper before he eventually made the transition to adulthood and the decks of Electric City. He will be lighting things up from 11 onwards.
