View Full Version : Fave ALL TIME label?

probably been done before but just been thinking about labels past and present today when sorting through a load of my old records.
Most consistant? most likely to deliver a massive bomb? Most original? They dont have to be techno labels too, well not all of them
i really loved Planet Rhythm for a while and Compound, certainly when i was heavily into the harder stuff, but some of mine would have to include Underground Resistance, Subject Detroit, Fcomm. I also used to LOVE Global Underground for their mix series and compilations.
On the non-techno side of things, Domino (purely for Lou Barlow, Sebadoh, Elliot Smith, Pavement etc) and Rough Trade would have to be my top picks
anyone else?

Well it would take some thinking about but Planet Rhythm is the one that first sprang to mind when I saw the thread

17-08-2006, 06:28 PM
also i have to add Mosiac and R+S, past aside, that was one deadly label, and i thank god they are repressing everything

drumcode really turned me onto techno so i guess it would be that.
easy choice but hell....club techno at its most genius.
planet rhytham also...i picked up an old Alex k katz tune at lunch on PR. Hard techno done properly,no bullshit.

so? if people like uk boom boom, so be it
plenty of labels from all corners of the globe mentioned here, no problem with it really
so? if people like uk boom boom, so be it ive said nothin against it. ppl should hear what they like. uk wasnt referred to the country where the labels are located. it was referred to that typical pounding grooves, dave the drummer (nothing wrong with them tho) etc. sound.
i find it a bit boring when 8 out of 10 guys name labels with almost the same sound. and ONLY these labels. electronic music is such a wide field.

it's a fave label thread, there are no pre-requsite's as to what a person can and cant post. If i wanted to know what people's top dark labels were, i'd of said "what are your fave dark labels", same if i wanted to know what peoples fave electronica label was and so on and so forth. the pounding grooves/drummer sound is london acid techno, pretty short sighted to dismiss the whole country as uk boom boom just like that. There's alot more goes on over here than that, quite judgemental to lump everyone in the same bracket

hmmm i dont agree. Blackout the label maybe a boom boom label i guess in some people's opinion, but as a whole the forums have a much wider spectrum, or at least that's the aim surely? Hence all the sub-forums

Boa is a hard techno website/forum. Yeah sure a few listen to other stuff the odd time by mistake in record shops but..c'mon.
If it was an electronic music forum then we wouldnt need sub forums.
I'm not gettin stroppy. I just thought fac was being silly acting all surprised when a whole load of people listed hard techno labels as their favourites. I wasnt exactly expecting any miraculous revelations.
