yeah a vst deffo.

when working on a track, i often bounce a plugin to audio when ive got it how i want it, then just insert back as a sampler channel, saves the cpu leaving it free for other processing

i guess i should be more specific


The vst is a melody that always changes so putting it in a sampler is cubersome because the file is 5 minutes long

Would using the vst take less popwer in this instance? Or would 5 minutes of audio. The vst is a mono synth

Yeah, you can run 80 tracks of audio on a realatively shit PC, but 80 notes of polyphony let alone 80 actual synths and the thing would be begging to be stuck in the dustbin...

Still audio is better .. in this case the strain will be more on yer HD then on the CPU... but also U should maybe check some of the options on yer soundcard's asio driver.

especially when u get to those grubby plug-ins (waves, tc, etc.) they take up alot of cpu also.

thats why i use dsp cards ;)

i have always wondered about spending money on the cpu cards - what do u use ?

i was thinking about the creamware xtc for doing that as it also works as a synth when i need it

are the fx on the cards out of the software fx's league or are they similar sounding ?

i have never hit a full cpu load yet on my pc but wanted a better quality reverb to the one onboard my digidesk / software , is the £1000 quid spent well on a card or is it better to buy a nice tc rack u think?

I wish Waves did a Power DSP card!! :)

I really don't dig TC all that much I find I use 90% waves Plug- ins!

i use the tc for the reverb and the graphic... the waves is 'better' but i just prefer the tc for some reason.. it makes me feel safe and secure.

maybe there was a tc reverb in my mummies womb

I have the mackie uad card, it's freakin great!

but cost me $700 :shock:

tc electronics has the firewire power core, they're really good sounding plugins. I"m thinking of getting those soon also.

uad pultec eq and compressor are great!

has anyone got their hands on the Sony Oxford eq's??? I've heard they kick ass.

they do... but u need a UAD card 4 that... that's one of the reasons I crave them :)
