Wicked, I had a feeling that Frequency 7 would be the Sims/Surgeon thing. Was mental at the Cavern Club, really gonna try and make it down for this!!!

ROOM TWO
Essex Rascals vs Outlet Collective

After a brief summer break which saw SPLIT co-founder Ben Sims treat us to some techno on the Thames at last month’s Retrovert v. Tronic Treatment annual boat party, the SPLIT posse return to their spiritual home at London’s Key. This time we get to hear the London debut from FREQUENCY 7 as Ben Sims and Surgeon give us something fresh and exciting in their new dex, fx and laptop collaboration. Rising Dutch maestro, Joris Voorn return’s one year after his raucous SPLIT live London debut with a brand new live set, Alex Downey from Covert sets the night off with one of his classy warm up sets and Chris Finke holds it all together in his own inimitable way. Once again we get to cut a rug with an old school mash up from the Essex Rascals and London’s superb Outlet Collective once again join in the party plate spinning fun. And if that’s not enough SPLIT will also be celebrating their third birthday. Let the party commence!

FREQUENCY 7 is a soundclash of styles from two mixmasters, Ben Sims Vs Surgeon. Both undisputed leaders in their chosen musical disciplines, now performing together to create something truly fresh! They create a uniquely improvised experience from techno, funk, dub, house, hip hop, disco, Industrial etc utilizing turntables, CD decks, FX and all the latest Hardware/Software/technology.

Taking their name from the highly influential track Frequency 7‚ by 80´s electro pop outfit 'Visage', a futuristic electronic funk classic that was an inspiration for producers on both sides of the Atlantic, the project has been road tested in a series of secret gigs and audiences knew that they were at the birth of something special. Ben and Surgeon will only do their new show at clubs that have excellent sound systems, the right atmosphere and an open-minded crowd. Sounds like a SPLIT act down to a T!

But don‚t just take our word for it. A one hour segment from a three hour set by Frequency 7 (Ben Sims Vs Surgeon) was recorded live at Electric City, Dublin on 16th March 2006: http://www.dj-surgeon.com/download/Frequency_7.zip 82.5MB download

JORIS VOORN returns after last year‚s debut London appearance. As the man responsible for 2004‚s biggest techno album FUTURE HISTORY, which was played by everyone from Francois K to Derrick May and Ben Sims, he is now one of the most popular live acts on the techno scene. This live performer and DJ has been traveling the globe for the last year, performing in the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Germany and Austria, Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Brazil, Detroit and New York. His first mix CD FUSE presents Joris Voorn‚ was also released last year which saw him glue tracks together to create new pieces of music.

CHRIS FINKE holds the fort once again (well this is his and Ben’s residency night!) with a mixture of house and techno the main FLUX man will anchor the party with a style that brings in his own Split and Flux production work to the deeper end of today’s techno spectrum. Expect another sterling job.

THE ESSEX RASCALS sees the return of a DJ tag team raised from the East side of London and the wrong side of the tracks! Featuring a rotating roster of DJ/producers including PAUL MAC, MARK BROOM, TONY ANDERSON, BEN SIMS and more, and inspired by legendary NYC mastermixers The Latin Rascals, the project sees the guys dig deep into their vast collections and provide an eclectic mix of styles. From Adonis to Afrika bambaataa-Bobby Byrd to Black dog-Cybertron to Cameo and Dinosaur L to Double Dee n´ Steinski. needless to say, this is a heavy-weight Essex sandwich!

Currently co-promoting bi-monthly techno-acid-disco-blah shindig, The Ruck‚ East London party starters THE OUTLET COLLECTIVE were born of a meeting of minds during ‘97. OC have promoted a wide range of residencies and one-off events which have also forged them a reputation for rockin‚ the party with an eclectic array of dancefloor-inspired sounds - a reputation which has since led to guest appearances DJing across the UK and Europe.

THE KEY, situated opposite The Cross and underneath Canvas, is a superb space to hold our parties. Entrance is via Laser Road, clearly signed with a neon "KEY" sign as you head down towards The Cross. Once indoors you'll witness the dark scene of the main room complete with flashing floor. Turn left and head up into the elegant chandelier hallway, which leads up to the main bar which is populated with huge oak beams and leather sofas and will become room 2 for SPLIT.

Tickets are priced £12 plus any respective booking fee and/or postage if ordered from Ticketweb. Ticketweb Tickets are available now. Tickets are also available at 3 London record shops. Please see the events page at www.splitmusic.net <http://www.splitmusic.net
