I was wondering what sleeparchive was up to. I figured nothing much. When I began listening I expected shit but to my surprise I liked roughly half the tracks. On their own I think they're boring and basic, but I can see some of these being massive on the third deck or as a layer in ableton. Still not sure what all the hype is about though. The first three had a good track or two and the rest was awful. #4 was a joke and 5 had one cool track. Good to see SA is on the upside of things at the moment.
good good i like it, but elephant island is still unbeatable
elephant island? are you on drugs? he absolutely ruled with the recycle ep. two killer tracks on it :)

surgeon played them.
I think it'd take more than Surgeon playing them to create a hype about him, I think the likes of Hawtin championing his tracks would have had more to do with it. Overall though, I think the label just did well for him from the beginning and his name quickly grew - people like his sound.

Agree with Orac - Elephantisland is unbeatable,
this one is ok but I think it gets a bit boring... Still the same sound, same ideas.

Must say these don't grab me in the way that elephant island did. Think it may be wearing a bit thin now.

yes, exactly. in your opinion. I like germans who rip off early plus 8 sounds as much as the next scrawny techno nerd, but one can only take a sound and run with it so far. Imo.

I haven't heard these sampleas properly yet, but I was kind of surprised to see a no.6. I thought he took this sound as far as he could, as it had ran out of steam by no.5. That said, he is an excellent producer, and I have a lot of his stuff... I really hope he can take this in a new direction.
I like germans who rip off early plus 8 soundssähkö u mean? when he ripped early plus 8 sounds he would sound like substance abuse or pullover.

I don't know...I think a good chunk of that sleeparchive stuff could fit in extremely well to the Plus 8 back catalog. I wouldn't say that's such a bad thing, seeing as how the label is legendary and all.

You're back tracking now. Get your facts straight before you go spouting ;)
Sleeparchive's music is nothing like early Plus 8. I think you meant to just compare him to Plastikman or something.

The way i see it with this guys is.
'sound' of his tracks - great
'structure' of his tracks - boring/lazy
i would still play some of the stuff off this release though.

I wouldn't say there is no connection between Sleeparchive and early Plus 8. I mean, if you listen to Substance Abuse under water, it sounds a bit like Bleep 01... and if you play Research on 45, then set off a rape alarm, it sounds a bit like Pullover. :)
