SPLIT return to their current home, THE KEY, for another riotous party featuring a solid first class quality line up of techno legend and current SPLIT favourite ROBERT HOOD, a hook up with the one of the north’s most respected nights out, SUPERCONDUCTOR, a first visit from SPLIT newcomer BRENDAN LONG, along side 2nd room hosts TO THE BONE, who draft in help from 1965 RECORDS’ RAF RUNDELL.
ROBERT HOOD
This December 2nd we are delighted to welcome back ROBERT HOOD to SPLIT. ROBERT needs no introduction whatsoever to the SPLIT faithful. His 3rd time at SPLIT, ROBERT will be playing the closing set of the night. Founding member of the legendary group UNDERGROUND RESISTANCE as Minister of Information with Mad Mike Banks & Jeff Mills, his seminal works on Jeff Mills Axis label and his stripped down, dance floor minimalism on his very own M-Plant imprint has helped to direct Techno’s path throughout the late 1990's into the new century. This techno, no musical legend keeps going from strength to strength well into 2006.
ROBERTS’s latest work with long running Belgian techno label MUSIC MAN is HOODMUSIC. The first in a series of EPs, HOODMUSIC Vol 1, was released in November 2005, the second, HOODMUSIC Vol 2, was released in May 2006 with rare Los Hermanos [UNDERGROUND RESISTANCE] remixes, which shows this mans royal credentials.
VINCE WATSON
Graduating in 1993 in Music Technology, it wasn’t long after that VINCE WATSON started sending out demos. A residency in Glasgow’s Arena nightclub was soon to follow for this talented student and the start of his experience on the scene, playing alongside Jeff Mills, Luke Slater, Kenny Larkin and Miss Djax to name buy a few.
With his love of both House and Techno, it was Alola Records that gave him the chance to combine the 2, and in doing so in 1999 Vince released his first album ‘Biologique’. VINCE’S own label "Bio Music" set up in 2000 has featured Artists such as Steve Rachmad, Joris Voorn, Deetron and our own BEN SIMS. Such is the success of his first label, Bio’s sister label ‘Bio Elements’ is planned for 2006. Currently VINCE is recording for labels such as Fcomm, NRK, Delsin, Headspace, Ingoma and his own Bio Music label, and has recently been remixing artists such as Turner, The Black Dog, Electric Rescue and Taho. This year sees a remix for Laurent Garnier and Francois Kevorkian. He has also just released his debut album on his own label ‘ Echoes from the Future’ in conjunction with a World Tour.
This is a first visit to Split for Vince and his live set is perfectly suited to what SPLIT believe in
SUPERCONDUCTOR
DAN MOORE
DAN is more than just the resident DJ, he is also the founder of SUPERCONDUCTOR
and is responsible for shaping the musical vision and direction of the night since it's birth in 2001.
With early influences in electronic music from the likes of the Orb, Aphex Twin, Autechre and Warp records, DAN began to immerse himself in the club scene explosion of the nineties with regular trips to seminal London nights like Club UK and Lost, before arriving in Leeds and becoming involved with the already thriving club scene.
Initially involved in radio, DAN started SUPERCONDUCTOR a night unafraid to take risks in order to showcase the more diverse, deeper take on Techno and Electronic music. With SUPERCONDUCTOR constantly moving forward, so in turn has DAN’s development as a DJ. Now with gigs in Liverpool and Dublin under his belt, along with the experience of his residency at SUPERCONDUCTOR, he has set himself up for a great future!
ALEX BOWEN
ALEX ran a shop for a few years and through that came into contact with all sorts of music. ALEX now co-owns Soul Alley Records, Leeds' latest vinyl and Cd emporium with a comprehensive electronic selection. Also a SUPERCONDUCTOR resident DJ, ALEX has also guested at other nights such as T-Funkshun in Liverpool and Electric city in Dublin. Other live mixes will be broadcast soon on Proton Radio, Galaxy FM and downloadable on this site.
Its with this dedication and similar direction and philosophy that we welcome this hook up between the 2 clubs, and look forward to letting them loose on the SPLIT faithful
