Why not check over at kvr, there are always people selling their licenses there. Have seen prices as low as $150.

Mark I might have a Demo version from my Trigger Finger that I have never used cause I own Live 6 , so I could give you the Demo license code so you can upgrade it to the full version for cheap if you want !?

I sold 2 of the live lite 4 serials on E-Bay. I got £50 for one, and £35 for the other. Not bad considering it almost covered the price of the hardware i had purchased it with.

So in essence i got 2 M-Audio products for free.

even if you are not a student if you have any friends who are, or if you know any teacher at any level (I mean any level) you can buy through these guys. probably you know this but I thought I'd post the link in any case.
