they've decided to censor the d16 products - drumazon (909) and nephaton (808)
www.d16.pl (http://www.d16.pl)
what is the point? its not like roland have any plans to release a new 909 or 808.. how long would the copyright last on these products?

I am not surprised by it.
anyway. The only thing which d16 now had to change is just the skin or?

Isn`t it time we moved on from the damn 909 anyway?
A world of sounds at our fingertips, and still people obsess over that old crap box.

Hey I`m just saying, there`s so much great stuff out there, y`know, drumular, reaktor, absynth, syntendo etc
loads and loads and loads of sounds, a wealth of audio at our fingertips, the like of which has never been seen before.
Us producers today don`t know we`re born.
and then you have the 909.
Rinsed for all eternity.
And that damn open hat.
c`mon let the old bird die properly.

I know where you're coming from, Steve. So do lots of others here, i'm sure. I myself think the 909 OH is a little overused, not my cup of tea.
But i still like a closed 909 hat on the offbeat.
I like drumazon for what it is. I have never managed to get my rides as
nice as with drumazon.
Now if we need rides is another question. The synth is just ''playable'' even though the cymbal section is samples only as well.
I say mix it all up. Don't restrict yourself to only one thing.
i like the 909...
But only as an actual hardware device to play with live...
not for owt else.

i still love the 909 sounds, yes they're over used, but im still gonna use em, i especially love those hand claps though :)

That's a rather blase stance towards copyright, for an officer of the law.

Well, if the scum suckers had bothered to acknowledge the interest in their old shiteboxes they would have remade em, and also made vst`s of them already.
Supply and demand, and they ain`t supplying.
Screw intellectual property anyway, their machines are being emulated, but not directly copied.

It's not the sounds that are at issue... it's merely the visual style.

well if that's the case they are going very half hearted about it, because i could name numerous VST that i would swear are directly copied from Roland products barre the ones mentioned
